MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL VT ING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DES PLAINES HELD IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS ON THE 14th DAY OF MAY,A.D.1$34 AT THE HOUR OF 8:30 More than twenty-four hours before the time of this meeting the following notice was delivered by messenger to Mayor George W.Kinder and each of the Aldermen: NOTICE TO ALDERMEN CITY OF DES PLAINES Upon call of Mayor George W.Kinder, there will be a special meeting of the City Council of the City of Des Plaines in the Council Chambers on Monday May 14,1934 at 8:30 P.M. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the 1934 TAX LEVY ORDINANCE and such other matters as may be timely. Alderman Frederick arrived shortly after the roll call. 334 City Attorney, Kenneth 0.1Leyer, then submitted a brief summary of the tax levy proposed by the Finance Committee for 1934. After thorough discussion, the motion was made by Alderman Pflughaupt and seconded by auxmann to set the total of the levy for ARTICLE 1 -GENERAL- CORPORATE PURPOSES at $26,750.00 . The motion was voted upon by acclamation, whereupon the Mayor declared the motion unanimously carried. The motion vas then made by Alderman Huxman and seconded by Pflughaupt to adopt $11,000.00 as the levy for ARTICLE 11 - SPECIAL PURPOSES. The motion vas voted upon by acclamation, whereupon the Mayor declared the motion unanimously carried. The motion was made by Alderman Huxmann and seconded by Pflughaupt to set the amount of levy for ArticLE 111-Gen- ERAL LIABILITIES at $13,500.00. The motion was voted upon by acclamation, whereupon the Mayor declared the motion unanimously carried. The Clerk then read the following proposed ordi- nance for first reading only: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 39 OF ARTICLE 1 OF CHAPTER 3 OF THE REVISED ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF DES PLAINES, ILLINOIS - 1928. The Clerk then read the following proposed ordi- nance for second reading: AN ORDINANCE CREATING A BOARD OF LOCAL IMPROVEMENTS FOR THE CITY OF DES PLAINES, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS The motion was made by Alderman Meinshausen and seconded by Huxmann to adopt this proposed ordinance. Nays; None, The Mayor thereupon declared the motion carried and the ordinance passed. The Clerk then presented the lase of the plot lying south of the C & NA.Tracks and bounded by Graceland Avenue, Ellinwood Street, Lee Street and the C & tracks, and reported that the Des Plaines Park District has signified its willingness to purchase this lease for $1.00. The motion was made by Alderman Frederick and seconded by Meinshausen to sell and itasign this lease described as document i27951, dated December 1,1930 and expiring December 1,1935, to the Des Plaines Park District in consideration of $1.00; and to authorize the Mayor and 3,35 City Clerk to execute this assignment. The roll was called on the motion to table, with the following result: Ayes; Aldermen Ahbe,Carral1, Pflughaupt, Tulle, Bishop, Huxmann, Frederick, Neal, lueinshausen and Schwanbeck. Nays; None. The Clerk then read for second reading, the follow- ing proposed ordinance, seeking to change the meeting night of the Council from Monday to Tuesday: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION IC, ARTICLE 1 OF CHAPTER 2, ENTITLED *THE COUNCIL", OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF DES PLAINES, ILLINOIS.
