TRAFFIC COMMISSION REPORT ON PARKING AT SCHOOLS. The Clerk read the following:
We, your committee on Traffic, have studied the requests for No Parking on School
side of street at all school locations in the City of Des Plaines, and also the
letter dated June 6, 1956, addressed to the Des Plaines Traffic Commission written
by City Attorney Lohman Eley, and it is our opinion that No Parking signs be
installed on all locations surrounding the school and immediate property used for
playgounds, etc.
It is our thought that children darting out from between parked cars present a
serious safety hazard. We are aware that in some instances this might present a
hardship for people parking in that area, but feel that this action will be of
greatest benefit to the majority of the peole involved.
