Scharringhausen reported on the new standard building code books on hand. He told the Mayor that if the Council desired to study these code books and report if they wished to adopt the code, the City Clerk had several copies. COMMITTEE REPORTS: Alderman Napieralski reported of the meeting with Mr. Parish of the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad Company and discussing the several items of interest to the Council. It ispossiblefor you to pass an ordinance limiting the load on this road within your illage and, it would retest with the approval of this Department. According to our records this south line is in the center of the street, so that your records should apply to that portion of Dempster Street from Wolf Road to the U.N.W.R.R. Forward a copy of the ordinance and signs will be installed at the nearest intersection applicable to this section between :golf Road and the Railroad. It will be necessary for the Village to enforce their ordinance. The widening of this section meets with the approval of this Department and recommendations will be made to the Plan Commission for this improvement. B. Geiger & Co. of Chi- cago for the contract price of $28,76135....Work to be started as soon as the land was procured, performance bond presented by the contractor, and that the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized to enter into contract with said eontracting firm. -The motion was then made by Alderman Halverson and seconded by Johnson to concur in the report. MUNICIPAL DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE: Alderman McKay reported that the Mu- nicipal Development ommittee granted permission to the Bingaman Metal Spinning Com- pany to operate their business at 1578 Miner Street, subject to an agreement as in the case of Toepper & Smith. The motion was made by Alderman McKay and seconded by Napieralski to concur in the report. The motion was voted upon by acclamation where- upon the Mayor ddclared the motion carried. Alderman McKa also reported he had received the agreements for the two companies from the City Attorney and would refer them to the City Clerk for signatures. Alderman McKay reported that the Committee did not attend the County Zoning Hearing on rezoning of a piece of land on the Northwest corner of Potter and Ballard Roads from eommerdial to Farming) because it was more of interest to Park Ridge. Alderman Napieralski reportedhe had.cailed the County Zoning Board .and told them that the Des Plaines Council had no objections. PUBLIC RELATIONS COMMITTEE: Alderman Napieralski reported receiving a letter from Mrs. Ambroise, the American Legion representative in the City Hall, re- garding the need for apartments for veterans. He requested the press to take notice and give some publicity in their papers.
