The motion was then made by Alderman Kehe and seconded by Halverson to adopt the
said resolution with the exception of the item of Joe Divito for $1,035.00 in
the Water Department, to be held out. The Mayor put the question and the Clerk
called the roll with the following result: Ayes; Aldermen Johnson, Napieralski,
Vavrinek, Kehe, Scharringhausen, McKay, Harm, Campagna, Halverson. Nays; none.The Mayor
thereupon declared tiie motion carried and the said resolution adopted with the exception
mentioned. APPROVAL OF INUTES:""Sach.member of the Council having been sup-
, plied with a copy of the minutes of the regular meeting of May 21, 1945, the
motion was made by Alderman Halverson and seconded by Johnson that the said
minutes be approved. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon the
Mayor declared the motion carried. Alderman Kehe reported that the old pas-
senger car had been removed from the side-track at Laurel Avenue by the
C. & N. W. R. R. Co. and requested the Clerk to write a letter of thanks to
the company.
ADJOURNMENT: The motion was made by Alderman Kehe and seconded by
Campagna to adjourn the meeting to Monday, June 11, 1945, at 4:00 P.M. The motion
was voted upon by acclamation whereupon the Mayor declared the motion carried and
the meeting adjourned until Monday, June 11, 1945, at 8:00 P. M.

CALL TO ORDER: The meting was cal]ad to order by Mayor Pflughaupt,
presiding, with Aldermen Johnson, apieralski, Vavrinek, Wolf, Kehe, McKay, Harm,
Campagna and Halverson responddng to roll -call. Alderman Scharringhausen was absent
the entire meeting.

LIBRARY TAX ANTICIPATION WARRANT RESOLUTION: The City Clerk then read
the following resolution adopted by the Library Board entitled:
RESOLUTION with respect to Tax Anticipa-
tion Warrants against the 1945 Library
Fund of the City of Des Plaines, in Cook
County, Illinois.
The motion was then made by Alderman Kehe and secohded by Halverson that the reso-
lution be accepted and placed on file. The motion was voted upon by acclamation
whereupon the Mayor declared the motion carried.
PASS 1945 TAX ANTICIPATION ORDINANCE: The Clerk then read for first
reading a proposed ordinance entitled:

the motion was then made by Alderman Halverson and seconded by Campagna to sus-
iend the rules and place'the proposed ordinance upon itn final passage. The Mayor
put the question and the Clerk called the roll with the following result: /Ayes;

Halverson. Nays; none. Absent: Alderman Scharringhausen. The Mayor thereupon
declared the motion carried, the rules suspended, and the said proposed ordinance
before the Council for final disposition.
The motion was then made by Alderman Kehe and seconded by Campagna
to finally pass the said proposed ordinance. The Mayor put the question and
the Clerk called the roll with the following result: Ayes; Aldermen Johnson,
Napieralski, Vavrinek, Wolf, Kehe, McKay, Harm, Campagna, and Halverson. Nays;
nonel Absent: Alderman Scharringhausen. The Mayor thereupon declared the
motion carried and the said ordinance passed.
RESOLUTION DESIGNATING DEMOSITORY FOR CITY TREASURER: The Clerk then
read the following proposed resolution: -
RESOLUTION DESIGNATING DEPOSITORY FOR CITY TREASURER
WHEREAS, Harold J. Ahbe, City Treasurer, of the City of Des Plaines,
County of Cook, State of Illinois, has, pursuant to the terms of an Act of the
General Assembly of the State of Illinois, heretofore adopted and now in full
force and effect, requested this City Council of the City of Des Plaines, Cook
County); to designate a bank, or other depository, in which funds and moneys received
by him or in his official custody, may be kept or deposited; and
WHEREAS, the following designated bank has furnished copies of the
last two sworn statements of resources and liabilities as furnished to the
Comptroller of Currency or the Auditor of Public Accounts;
NOW, THEREFORE,Be it Resolved by the City Council of the City of Des
C4 Plained, Cook County, aforesaid, that the following bank is hereby named and
designated as depository in which the funds and moneys received by, or in the of•
ficial dustody of Harold J. Ahbe, City Treasurer may be kept and deposited:
The First National Bank, Des Plaines, Illinois
"`t BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the bank herein dedignated as a depository
for such funds or moneys shall furnish this City Council with a copy of all bank
statements which it is required to furnish to the said Auditor of Public Accounts,
or the said Comptroller of Currency, while acting as a Depository; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that if such funds or moneys are deposited in
the bank herein designated as a depository, the amount of such deposits shall not
exceed seventy-five per cent (75%) of the capital and surplus of such bank, and
sucfl Qty Treasurer shall not be discharged from responsibility for any sueh funds
or moneys deposited in any bank in excess of such limitations.
The motion was then mide by Alderman Johnson and seconded by Halverson to adopt
the said proposed resolution. The motion was voted upon by acclamation wheeupon
the Mayor declared the motion carried and the resolution adopted.
OFFICER'S REPORT: The Clerk then submitted the report of City
Treasurer, Harold J. Ahbe, for the month of May, 1945.
APPOINTMENT OF STREET IMPROVEMENT INSPECTOR: Mayor Pflughaupt ap-
pointed Charles Forberg Inspector for the improvement of arterial Streets #11,12,13.
The motion was then made by Alderman McKay and seconded by Campagna to confirm the
said appointment. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon the Mayor de-
clared the motion caf'ried and the appointment confirmed.
PARK RIDGE GARBAGE DISPOSAL: The motion was then made by Alderman Cam-
pagna and seconded by Alderman Napieralski that the City Clerk write a letter to
the City Council of Park Ridge informing them that their garbage disposal will be
billed at $3.00 per ton beginning May lst, 1945, and until a new contract is ex-
ecuted. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon the Mayor declared the
motion carried and the Clerk so instructed.
Alderman Napieralski inquired of any action being taken regarding the
improvement of Laurel Ave., north of Harding, because immediate action should be
had due to the Doall Co. building program. After some discussion, Alderman Cam -
papa, Chairman of Streets Committee, to whom this matter had been referred said
the Committee would report next meeting.
