Patrol Sweeper 4,263.91 The motion was made by Alderman Lemke and seconded by McKay to refer the bids to the Streets and Sanitation Committee for study and report at the next meeting of the Council. APPROVAL OF MINUTES:: Each member of the Council having been supplied with copies of the minutes of the regular meeting held March 19, 1945, the motion was made by Alderman Halverson_ and seconded by Scharringhausen that the said minutes be approved. MR. E. J. COSTELLO: The motion was made by Alderman Campagna and seconded by Napieralski that the Clerk with the assistance of Alderman Napier- alski, Chair*an of Public Relations, be instructed to send a letter of condo- lence to Mrs. Costello regarding the death of her husband, Editor E. J. Costello of the Suburban Times. ADJOURNMENT: The s}otion was then made by Alderman McKay and sefionded by Campagna to adjourn. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon the Chair dedlared the motion carried and the meeting regularly adjourned. OTTO W. J. OFFICER REPORTS: The City Clerk presented the report of City Treasurer, Harold J. Ahbe, for March, 1945. COMMITTEE REPORTS: The Water Committee, through its Chairman Al- derman Lemke, reported having conferred with Dr. Max Sutter on "Des Plaines -Water Needs and Possibilities". Alderman Lemke also presented the following: April 5, 1945 Mr. J. W. Lemke City Commissioner Des Plaines, Illinois Dear Mr. Lemke: We are enclosing a memorandum on "Geology of Ground Water Possibilities at Des Plaines, Cook County" prepared by Mr. Robert Storm of the State Geological Sur- vey. We are also enclosing an additional report by Dr. Max Suter on "Des Plaines Water Needs and Possibilities" and a memorandum on "Water Quality in the Vicinity of Des Plaines" by Dr. T. E. Larson, both of the State Water Survey.
