The proposed improvement will provide a dust proof wearin surface and also provide for a five foot crushed stone shoulder on each side of the. roadway and also' parkway grea.ing. Garland, Alderman Johnson, IJapiealski, Pflughaupt, Vavrinek, Kehe, Scharringhausen, Lemke, McKay, Campagna and Halverson, 1944 TAX RATE: Mayor Garland informed the Aldarman that the tax rate for 1944 tad been increased because the couir assessor had failed to include considerable property in the valuation. All over the county rates habe been increased due to the failure of adding property to the valuation. Mayor Garland called on A. E. Goll of Maine Twons}tip High School Brd., T. Arndt, President Des Plaines Park Dist. , W. T. Merrian of P blit School Brd. a R. D. Hams Township assessor who were present. Alderman Napieralski had considerable data on the subject stating that through the loss of employees going into the war service, cases before the appeal Brd. and time limit, to complete the tax books were partly the causes of failure to get the items on the books. After considerable discussion Alderman Campagna seconded by Kehe that the City Attorney be instructed to draw up a resolution cf protest to the county assesor. protesting the omissions of the property to the valuation.
