MUNICIPAL LEAGUE__ CONVENTION: The Mayor suggested that the City Attorney, Clerk, Building Inspector and City Engineer attend the, convention as representatives of the City. That the expenses be paid by the City. the motion was then made by Alderman Lemke and seconded by Halverson to concur in the suggestion. PARK R]DGE WATER ORDINANCE: The Clerk then read for first reading a proposed ordinance entitled: O R_D_IN_AN_CE BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City o£ Des Plaines, Illinois that: SECTION 1: The Mayor and City Clerk be and they are hereby authorized to enter into a contract with the City of Park Ridge, Illinois, relating to a temporary supply of water from the City of Park Ridge, to the City of Des Plaines, which.contract shall be in substantially the following form: THIS AGREEMENT made and entered into this 26th day of October, A. D., 1944, by and between the City of Park Ridge and the City of Des. Plaines, both in the County of Cook and State of Illinois, WITNESSETH: L. The City of Park Ridge hereby agrees to supply water to the City of Des Plaines for a period of fifteen days from the date of this agreement and the City of Des Plaines agrees to pay for allaater supplied under the terms hereof at the following rates: For the first 6000 gallons - $2.75 For the next 44.,000 gallons - 40¢ per thousand gallons For over 50,000 gallons - 33¢ per thousand gallons 2. The parties hereto agree that prior to the execution of this agree- ment the City of Park Ridge supplied the City of Des Plaines with gallons of water, which shall be paid for by the City of Des Plaines in accordance with the foregoing rates. The City of Des Pines agrees to pay the City d' Park Ridge for all water suppjlied to it under the terms of this agreement within thirty days after the rendition of a statement of the amount due. 3. The City of Park Ridge shall not be required to supply the City df Des Plaines with more than 250,000 gallons of water during any twenty-four hour period during the term of this agreement. 4. The installation of the water meter to measure the amount of water supplied; the installation of the connection between the water supply systems of the City of Park Ridge and the City of Des Plaines and all matters incidental thereto, shall be made unde'r-the supervision of the Superintendent of the Water Department of the City of Park Ridge and no water shall be supplied to the City of Des Plaines unless the facilities arranged for such supply are approved by the_ Superintendent of the Water Department of the C ity of Park Ridge. 5. The City of Park Ridge reserves the right to discontinue the supply of water to the City of Des Plaines and to disoonnect any connections made for that purpose whenever the Mayor, or the Superintendent of the Water Department, of the City of Park Ridge is of the opinion such action is-necessaryffor the protection, health, safety and welfare of the inhabitants of the City of Park Ridge, 6. Upon the termination of this agreement the connection between the water systems of the City of Park Ridge and the City of Des Plaines shall be permanently severed. THIS CONTRACT is entered into pursuant to authority of the City Council of the City of Park Ridge and the City Council of the City of Des Plaines. SeCTION 2. This ordinance shall be in full foree and effect upon its passage and approval according to law. -- ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Des Plaines this 26th day of October, A. D., 1944. The motion was made by Alderman Lemke and seconded by Vavrinek to sus- pend the rules and place the said proposed ordinance upon its final passage. GIRL SCOUTS: Mayor pro -tem Pflughaupt then welcomed"Mrs. Ford Arndt and the Girl Scout Troop which was in attendance at the meeting. Scharringhausen, building Inspector RURAL FIRE PROTECTION CONTRACTS: The Public Protection Committee, through its chairman, Alderman Johnson, reported that they had investigated the matter of providing an assigninent or cancellation clause in the Fire Protection contracts. Also that it was decided to attempt to a'eate a Fire District. This would eliminate a contract with the individual and enable our fire department to answer all calls. The committee recommended that the City Attorney be instructed to phrase a reassignment clause to be added to the contract in the form of a sticker. The motion was made by Alderman Johnson and sedonded by Scharringhausen to concur in the report. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon the Chair declared the motion carried and the said report concurred in.
