The motion was made by Alderman Pflughaupt and seconded by Kehe to adopt
the said proposed resoltion. The Mayor put the question and the Clerk
called the roll with the following result: Ayes ; Aldermen Johnson,
Napieralski, Pflughaupt, Vavrinek, Kehe, Scharringhausen, Lemke, McKay,
Campagna and Halverson. Nays; None. The Mayor thereupon declared the
motion carried and the said resolution adopted.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Each member of the Council having been
supplied a copy of the minutes of the regular Council meeting held
January 17, 1943, the correction was offered by Alderman McKay that
Mr. Standley Redmer was appointed as chairman of the Committee for Ap-
proval of the Cumberland Terrace Sewer, instead of Mr. Sam Atkins.
The motion was made illy Alderman Lemke and seconded by Campagna
that the said minutes be approved as corrected. The motion was voted
upon by acclamation whereupon the Mayor.declared the motion carried and
the said minutes approved as corrected.
ADJOURNMENT: The motion was made by Alderman Lemke and seconded
by Illi Napieralski that the Council adjourn to 8:00 P. M., Friday,
February 11, 1944. The motion was vo =d upon by acclamation whereupon

MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED •o- i COUNCIL MEETING
OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF DES PLAINES, HELD IN THE
COUNCIL CHAMBERS ON FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 11, 1944 AT
8:00 P.M.
CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order by Mayor Charles
H. Garland presiding, with Aldermen Johnson, Napieralski, Pflughaupt,
Vavrinek, Kehe, Scharringhausen, Lemke, McKay and Holgerson responding
to the roll call. (Alderman Campagna was absent during the entire
meeting.), The Clerk reported nine (9) aldermen present.
ANNOUNCE DEATH OF FORMER ALDERMAN COLLLdT: Mayor Garland announced
the death of John B. Collet who retired after serving the City as
alderman for more than a decade.
The motion was made by Alderman Johnson and seconded by Lemke to
instruct the Clerk to send a floral piece to the Collet family and ex-
press the Council's sympathy. The motion was voted upon by acclamation
whereupon the Mayor declared the motion carried.
DISCUSS WATER REPORT: The report of Alvord, Burdick and Howson,
engineers, -dated February 7, 1944, was then discussed at length by the
members of the Council. Mr. Donald H. Maxwell of Alvord, Burdick and
Howson was present and answered any questions pertaining to the report.
The members of the Council seemed to favor Plan "A” of the report.
It was informally agreed that the Clerk arrange a conference with
Colonel Harvey of the United States Army and Mr. Ashton of the Federal
Works Agency for Tuesday morning, February 15, 1944, for the purpose
of arranging for Federal aid to carry on the proposed project. The
following agreed to attend the conference: Mayor Garland, Aldermen
Kehe, Vavrinek, Napieralski, Lemke; Scharringhausen and Halverson, City
Clerk Friedrich, City Attorney Opeka, City Engineer Nelson and Mr.
Maxwell of Alvord, Burdick and Howson, engineers.
