CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DES PLAINES
HELD IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS ON MONDAY,
MAY 5, 1941, at 8:00 P.M.
CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called b order by Mayor Hobart M. Ahbe•pre—
siding with Aldermen Carroll, Johnson, Henrich, Loos, Dopheide, Carlson, Friott,
Lemke, Schwanbeck and Campagna responding to the roll call. The Clerk reported all
Members of the Council present.
REPORTS OF OFFICERS: The Clerk then submitted the reports for April, 1941
of the following:

Charles M. Larson, City Treasurer
Frank F. Seharringhausen, Building Inspector
Arthur Rieck, Electrical Inspector
The motion was made by Alderman Carroll and seconded by Lemke to order the said
reports placed on file. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon the
Mayor declared the motion carried.
APPROVAL OF PLAT - STARC'S SUBDIVISION: The Clerk then submitted for
council approval a plat of subdivision entitled:

There is nothing unusual about this plat. The Plan Commission
has found that a present street, sidewalks, curbs, sewer, water
and all other necessary improvements are provided and that no
further improvements of any kind are required.
The Plan Commission therefore finds that the plat complies with
City ordinances in every respect and hereby recommends its final
approval by the City Council.

needy families in our city.

the motion was made by Alderman Dopheide and seconded by Lemke to approve the
said minutes. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon the Mayor de-
clared the motion carried and the said minutes approved.

as master of ceremonies. The oaths of office of Mayor Charles H. Garland, Edgar J.
Friedrich, City Jerk, Harold J. Ahbe, City.Treasurer, A. L. Sengstoek, Police
Magistrate and Aldermen Elmer W. Johnson, G. Walter Pflughaupt, Henry J. Kele,
John,W. Lemke and Samuel C. Campagna were then publicly administered, after which
Mayor Ahbe formally presented the Mayor's gavel to Mayor,Charles H. Garland.
COUNCIL RE -CONVENES: The meeting was then reconvened by Mayor Garland
With Aldermen Carroll, Johnson, Pflughaupt, Loos, Dopheide Kehe, Lemke, Friott,
Schwanbeck and Campagna responding to the roll call. The "lerk reported all^members

Mayor Garland announced that the Council will hold its next regular meet-
