CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order by Mayor Hobart M. Ahbe,
presaging, with Aldermen Carroll, Johnson, Henrich, Loos, Dopheide, Carlson,
Friott, Lemke, Schwanbeck, and Campagna responding to the roll call.
• REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES: None of the standing committees of the
Council had reports to offer.
• BUS SERVICE TO EVANSTON: The City Attorney then informed the Council
of_the filing of the following application with the Illinois Commerce Commission:

-Notice is hereby given of the filing by the undersigned with the Illinois
' Commerce Commission of an application for a Certificate of Covenience and
R Necessity to'operate as a motor carrier for the transportation of persons
over the following routes:

(a) Starting at the corner of Chicago Street and -Grove Avenue
in -Elgin; North on Grove Avenue to Milwaukee Street; East on
Milwaukee Street to Douglas Avenue;'North on Douglas Avenue to.

(c) Starting at the corner of Touhy Avenue and Greenwood Avenue in
Park Ridge; South on Greenwood Avenue to Devon Avenue; West on Devon
• Avenue to Western Avenue; north on Western Avenue to Albion Avenue;
east on Albion Avenue to Delphia; north on Delphia Avenue to Talcott
Road; Southeast on Talcott Road to Greenwood Avenue; north on Green-
wood Avenue to the place of beginning; and inversely. Said route.will
lie entirely within the City of Park Ridge. Illinois.

The motion was made by Alderman Campagna and seconded by Henrich to grant the re-
quest contained in the said letter. The motion was voted upon by -acclamation
whereupon the Mayor declared the motion carried and the said request granted.
• CASING -COMPANY REQUESTS PERMISSION TO OPERATE: Mayor Ahbe then in-
troduced`Mr. R. B. De Lay of B. F. Eidamiller & Co., and Mr. Pfaelzer, President
of the Independent Casing Co. of Chicago, wo stated that the Independent Casing
Co. is about to lease a building located at 1545 Oakton Street for use as a
casing selecting plant. They stated that there appears to be some question as -
to whether casing selecting is permitted in the commercial area in which the
proposed' quarters are located.
• The motion was made by Alderman Dopheide and seconded by Lobs that
the Council recess for five minutes for the purpose of informally discussing this,
matter. 'The Mayyor put the question and the Clerk called the roll with the follow-
ing result:' Ayes: Aldermen Johnson, Henrich-, Loos, Dopheide, Carlson., and Friott
Nays: Aldermen Carroll, Lemke, Schwanbeck and Campagna. The Mayor thereupon de-
clared the motion carried and the Council recessed.
After a.. few minutes Mayor Ahbe again called the Council to order and
reported that this matter has been referred to a special committee consisting of
Aldermen Schwanbeck and Loos for investigation and report. He reported further
that the committee's report would be received at a meeting of the Council as a
committee of the whole to be held Monday, February 24, 1941 at 8:00 P.M.
COMPLAIN OF LACK OF ATTENTION GIVEN STREETS: Alderman Loos then called
the Council's attention to the fact that the Street Department should act more
promptly in the matter of cindering icy streets to prevent accidents. The motion
was made by Alderman Carroll, and -seconded by Loos to refer this matter to the
Streets and Sidewalks Committee.
ASKS INFORMATION ON CU,,i:ERLAND INTERCEPTOR SEWER: The motion was made
by Alderman Henrich and seconded by Johnson to contact the Sanitary District
officials in an attempt to learn how soon construction on the proposed branch L,
interceptor sewer to the Cumberland Area may be expected to begin. The motion
was voted upon by acclamation whereupon the Mayor declared the motion carried.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Each member of the Council having been supplied
a copy of the minutes of the regular Council meeting held Monday, Febrgary 3, 1941
the motion was made by Alderman Schwanbeck and seconded by Lemke to approve the said
minutes. The motion was voted upon by -acclamation whereupon the Mayor declared tie
motion carried and the said minutes approved.
APPROVAL OF BILLS: The Finance Committee through its chairman, Alderman

Johnson then introduced a resolution approving bills covering the payment of bills
for materials and services rendered. The motion was made by Alderman Loos and
seconded by Henrich to amend this proposed resolution by striking therefrom
"Warrant #7935 - H. C. Gran, Chicago, I11. - Oil lubrication as needed $169.95."
The motion ws voted upon by acclamation whereupon the Mayor declared the motion
carried and the said proposed resolution amended. The motion was then made by
Alderman Johnson and seconded by Lemke to adopt the said resolution as amended and
reading as follows:
