CONTINUE DELIBERATION ON PICKETING ORDINANCE: Consideration and
discussion was then resumed regarding the proposed ordinance entitled:
AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING THE
PICKETING OF PLACES OF BUSINESS
BY PERSONS WHO ARE NOT PAST,
PRESENT OR EXPECTANT EMPLOYEES
OF THE PLACE OF BUSINESS BEING
PICKETED.
The motion was made by•lderman Lemke and seconded by Dopheide to pass this
proposed ordinance as read. The Mayor put the question and the Clerk called
the roll with the following results: Ayes; Aldermen Carroll, Johnson, Henrich,
Loos, Dopheide, Carlson, Friott and Lemke. Mays; Aldermen Schwanbeck and
Campagna. The Mayor thereupon declared the motion carried and ordinance
passed.
Mayor Ahbe thereupon approved the said ordinance by affixing his
signature which vas attested by Edgar J.Friedrich, City Clerk.
The motion was then made by Alderman Dopheide and seconded by Henrich
to order the Clerk to cause this ordinance published in the Des Plaines Journal. The
motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon the Mayor declared the motion
carried.

State of Illinois Dept. of Public Wks. and Bldgs. was

Assn. dated June 24, 1939 requesting that the city contract for a booth
in the Des Plaines Community Fair to be held August 15th to 19th incl.
A copy of the said letter is attached hereto.

has found: That the Des Plaines Business Men's Assn. will give the City
a booth, free of charge. We feel the City will be able to set up a dis-
play that will be both interesting and educational to the residents of

The motion was made by Alderman Carroll and seconded by Alderman
Henzgich to refer this letter to the Committee on Public Works, Buildings
and Plats with full power to act. The motion was voted upon by acclamation
whereupon the Mayor declared the motion carried and the matter so referred.
PEARSON STREET WIDENING (MFT -6CS): The motion was made by Alder-
man Henrich and seconded by Alderman Johnson to instruct the City Engineer to
make the necessary estimates and take such other action as is required to
carry out the Pearson Street widening project by contract instead of by
WPA labor. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon the Mayor
declared the motion carried.
INSPECTION FOR RIVERVIEW STREETS: Mayor Ahbe then announced the
appointment of Charles 1'orberg as the City's Inspector for the project of
covering the Riverview streets with "black -top" (MFT Section 4.1 and 5.1 CB),
the rate of pay to be $1.00 per hour. The motion was made by Alderman Joh n -
son and seconded by Alderman Carroll to confirm this appointment. The
motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon the Mayor declared the motion
carried and the said appointment confirmed.
APPROVAL OF BILLS: The Finance Committee, through its chairman
Alderman Johnson, then introduced the following proposed resolution:

seconded by Alderman Carlson to approve the said minutes as presented. The
motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon the Mayor declared the motion
carried and the said minutes approved.

THE COMMITTEE ON PUBLIC WORKS, BUILDINGS AND PLATS, through its
Chairman Alderman Loos, reported that a decision has been reached to do nothing
about the old Riverview Hall until the WPA is through using it, at which
time steps will be taken to wreck the building.
The Committee further reported through its chairman, Alderman
Loos, that permission has been granted the Des Plaines 4oman's Club to use
the Louncil Chambers for holding its meetings as requested in a letter
recorded in the Council proceedings of July 17, 1939.
THE SEWER, DRAINAGE AND SANITATION COMMITTEE: reported through
its chairman, Alderman 4ampagna, that the Dog Pound has been satisfactorily
repaired.
THE FIRE COMMITTEE had no report to offer.
