While I am aware there is an ordinance at Des Plaines against whistling, I call attention to the fact that Touhy Avenue, Howard Avenue, Oakton Avenue, Algonquin road and Thacker Avenue crossings are, according to my understanding outside the city limits of Des Plaines. There is a state law requiring that we sound the regulation crossing whistle for all crossings in the state, except in municipalities where ordinances have been placed preventing us from doing so. Therefore, you can readily, see that we would be in violation of this law if we failed to whistle for these crossings. l am having an investigation made however, to determine if any of this whistling is unnecessary, and if such is found to be the case, we will have it stopped.
