NNW FIRE TRUCK: Alderman Campagna, chairman
of the Fire Committee asked that the Council continue
.to remember the proposed new fire truck and if possible
include a portion of the cost of such a truck in the
1936 Tax Levy.

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Des Plaines
Gook. County, Illinois.
Section 1. That Section 1045 entitled "fees" of Chapter 22
entitled"Vehicle Licenses" of the Municipal Code of the City
of Des Plaines of 1928 be and the same is hereby amended to
read as follows:
SECTION' 1045 "FEES" The License fees to be paid
annually to the City Clerk shall be as follows:
For a one horse wagon or vehicle 42.50

beck to finally pass this proposed ordinance. The motion was
made however, by Alderman Frederick and seconded by Bishop
to refer this proposed ordinance to the Council sitting as
a committ-of-the-whole on Friday, December 6 1935 at 8:00 P.M.
in the City Clerk's office. The Mayor put the question and
the Clerk called the roll on the motion to refer, with the follow-

ADJUSTING 1935 APPROPRIATIONS
WHEREAS the City Council of the City of Des Plaines
heretofor has appropriated the sum of 41000.00 for salary
of janitor of the City Hall and 4200.00 for wages of
superintendent and laborers employed in cleaning sewers
and $400.00 for material for construction and repair
of sewers, and
WHEREAS the appropriation of 41000.00 for salary
of janitor is insufficient to cover the expense of jani-
tor for the City Hall, and
WHEREAS the appropriation of 4200.00 for wages
of superintendents and laborers and the appropriation of
4400.00 for material required in sewer repairs are in
excess of the atount required therefor, and

WHEREAS said appropriations are all within the
general corporate fund and sub -division thereof, being
ARTICLE 1 of the 1935 APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE,
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: that the City Clerk and

PROVIDING ADEQUATE SPECIAL ASSESSMENT BOOKS: The
Clerk then read the following praposed resolution:
RESOLUTION
WHEREAS the present set of special assessment
books and accounts of the City of Des Plaines are
inadequate and cannot provide the information required
by the City Treasurer to properly disburse special
assessment funds as required by law, and
WHEREAS the City Council has engaged Allen R.Smart
and Company to audit the special assessment accounts
of the City for the purpose of determining the amount
of collections, disbursements and/or balances in each
installment of each special assessment warrant both
as to principal and interest, and
WHEREAS such audit is now being conducted and
balances are being determinged as of April 30 1935, and
WHEREAS the full value of these audited balances
cannot be realized by the City unless the said balances
are properly entered in a set of books arranged to ade-
quately account for special assessment funds;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Des Plaines, that the authorization to
Alien R.Smart and Company be and the same is hereby
amended, and that Allen R.Smart and Company is hereby
instructed and directed to set up anedsluate set of
special assessment accounts for the City of Des Plaines
and to enter therein the proper opening balances as
of April 30 193b, said work to be done at the rate of 42b.00
Per day per senior accountant and 415.00 per day per
-Junior accountant as specified in the original authori-

spent in past years in the municipality clearing up
snow during the winter months and because the necessary
equipment can be reasonably purchased to take care
of this situation in the future at quite a saving.

in order to purchase said equipment for this purpose, -
namely, the Snow Plow and all equipment required
therewith complete for operation.

ment of the Des Plaines Afety Council's annual membership
fee for membership in the National Safety Council.

sidewalks, with a view toward reducing the cost to merchants
of maintaining signs over public sidewalks. The motion was

BIDS FOR SQUAD CAR RENTAL: The motion was made
by Alderman Carroll and seconded by Macluckie to instruct
the Clerk to call for bids on a one-year squad car rental
contract according to specifications to be furnished by
