Garland, the assignments bang dated February 14,1934. The accounts assigned appear to be for the purchase price of 9 cast bronze electric lanterns for mounting on street lighting standards and for 9 re -enforced ornamental electric light standards. These assignments were taken by lir.Garland in good faith upon the understanding that the amounts covered by same were actually owed by the Village to Mr. Johnson. The assigbments were presented last year and we were not able to learn just what action was taken by the Village. inasmuch as Mr. Garland took the assignments in good faith and they represent real money to him, we should like to have some definite ruling by the Village as to whether they rill be paid without suit, or whether it will be necessary for us to commence suit upon same. There are no decisions on the point in Illinois, but there are decisions in other states bearing on the question raised in your letter there it has been held that voluntary firemen, ander the direction of the Fire Department of one city being -sent by the Department of which he was a member, was covered under the act. Since the question has beensaised, we believe it advisable to endorse the policy to provide for the collection of premium on the remineration of voluntary firemen, which according to the manual for premium computation purposes y shall not be less than 100,00 per annum and 1 am today sending such an endorsement to -r. Reitz with request that he deliver it to you for attachment to your policy. I trust t:o.is fully answers the question raised in your letter of May 1st. If not, however, i will be glad to hear further from you. Yours very truly, W .W .
