MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED MEE T I NG OF THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DES PLAINES
HELD IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS ON THE 25th
DAY OF EBRUARY,A.D..103b AT THE HOUR
OF 8:00 P.M.
GAIL TO ORDER;
The meeting was called to order by Mayor George
W.Kinder presiding. The roll was called by the Clerk with
the following Aldermen responding: Aldermen Ahbe, Pflughaupt,
Fulle, Huxmann, Bisb p, Frederick, Neal, Schwanbeck, and
Meinshausen. Alderman Carroll was absent from the entire
session.
Mayor Kinder then announced that the Council
meeting held February 18, 1.935 vas adjourned to this hour
for the purpose of considering the passage of an ordinance
providing for the issuance of bonds- to purchase new fire-
fighting equipment, also for the passage of the necessary
ordinance designating polling places as well as judges and
Clerks of election for the general election to be held
April 16,135.
110,000.00 FIRE EQUIP',! 'NT BONDS: The Clerk then read the
following proposed ordinance in its surety for first
reading:
AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE ISSUANCE
OF 310,000.0C FIRE DEPARTMENT EQUIP NT
BONDS OF THE CITY OF DES PLAINES, COOK COUNTY,
ILLINOIS, AND PROVIDING FOR THE COLLECT ION
OF A DIRECT ANNUAL TAX FOR -HE PAYMENT OF
THE PRINCIPAL OF AND INTEREST ON SAID BONDS.
The motion was made by Fulle and seconded by Frederick
that any such rules of the Council as might prevent, unless
suspended, the passage and adoption of this proposed
IC,CCC.CC bond ordinance at this meeting be and the same
are hereby suspended to permit the passage of the said
proposed ordinance. The Mayor put the question on the
motion to suspend the rules, and the Clerk called the roll
with the following result: Ayes; Aldermen Ahbe, Pflughaupt,
Fulle, Huxmann, Bishop, Frederick, Neal, Schwanbeck and
Meinshausen. Nays; None. (Alderman Carroll was absent.)
The Mayor thereupon declared the motion carried and the
rules suspended.
The motion was then made by Alderman Fulle and
seconded by Frederick to finally pass and adopt this pro-
posed :10,CCC.00 bond ordinance. The Mayor put the question,
and the roll was called with the following result: Ayes; Alder-
men Ahbe, Pflughaupt, Fulle, Huxmann, .Bishop, Frederick,
Neal, Schwanbeck and. Meinshausen. rays; None. (Alderman
Carroll was absent.) The Mayor there :2o i declared the motim
carried and the ' IO,CCC.CC Fire- equipment bond ordinance
finally passed and adopted.
Mayor George W.Kinder then signed this original
ordinance in approval thereof, which signature was.attested
by Edgar J.Friedrich, City Clerk, who also impressed the
corporate seal of the City of Des Plaines thereon.
The motion was made by Alderman Pflughaupt and
seconded by Meinshausen that the Clerk be, and he is,
hereby instructed to cause this 310,000.00 bond ordinance
to be published in the March 1,1.35 issue of the DesPlaines
Suburban Times. The Mayor put the question and the roll
was called by the Clerk with the following result: Ayes; Alder-
men Ahbe, Pflughaupt, Fulle, Huxmann, Bishop, Ffederick, Neal,
Schwanbeck and Meinshausen. hays; done. (Alderman Carroll was
absent.) The Mayor thereupon d eclared the motion, to publish

this ordinance in the Des Plaines Suburoan Times, carried.
GENERAL ELECTION APRIL 16th, 193b: The Clerk then read
the following proposed ordinance in its entirety for first
reading:
AN ORDINANCE PROVIDI"aG FOR TATE CALLING OF
A GENERAL ELECTION TO BE HELD J.I. THE CITY
OF DES PLAINER, COOK COUNTY, ITT IN013, APRIL
16th 193b, DESIGNATING THE PLACES OF ELECTION,
A?PO INT ING THE JUDGES AND CLERKS OF ELECTION,
AND DESIGNATING THE OFFICERS TO 1E ELECTED.
The motion was made by Alderman Pflughaupt and seconded by
Neal that such rules of the Council as might prevent,
unless suspended, the final passage and adoption of this
proposed ordinance at this meeting be and the same are
hereby suspended to permit the passage and adoption of this
ordinance calling a general City election for April 16,135.
The Mayor put the question and the roll was called by the
Clerk with the following result: Ayes; Aldermen Ahbe,
Pflughaupt, . Fulle, Huxmann, Bishop, Frederick, heal, Schwan-
beck and Meinshausen. Nays; None. ( Alderman Carroll Vitas
absent.) The Mayor thereupon declared the motion carried
and the rules so suspended.
The motion was made by Alderman Pflughaupt and
seconded by Meinshausen to finally r w lnd adopt this
proposed ordinance calling a general election to be held
April 16,1G3b. The Mayor put the question, and the roll
was called by the Clerk ith the following result: Ayes;
Aldermen Ahoe, Pflughaupt, Fulle, Huxmann, Bishop, Frederick,
Neal, Schwanbeck and Meinshausen. Nays; None. (Alderrnau Car-
roll was absent.) The Mayor thereupon declared the motion
carried and the April 16, 1935 election ordinance passed.
Mayor Kinder then signed this election ordinance
in approval thereof, which signature was attested by Edgar
J.Friedrich, City Clerk, who also impressed the corporate
seal of the City thereon.
REFERENDUM ON ``GI0,000.00 FIRE BOND ISSUE: The Clerk then
read the following proposed ordinance in its entirety:

question, and the Clerk called the roll with the following

Btgho , Frederick, Neal, Schwanbeck and Meinshausen. Nays;
R8ne. (Alderman Carroll was absent.) The Mayor thereupon
declared the motion carried and the rules suspended.

The motion vas then made by Alderman Bishop and
seconded by Neal that the name "The Des Plaines Journal''
be inserted into the blank space in the pro^srd ordinance
left blank for the purpose of designating tl:c medium of publi-
cation, and, that with such insertion made, t'iis ordinance
be finally passed and adopted. The Mayor put the question
and the roll was called by the Clerk w ith the following result:
Ayes; Aldermen Ahbe, rfiughaupt, Fulle, Huxmann, Bishop,
Frederick, Neal, Schwanbeck and Meinshausen. Nays: None.
(Alderman. Carroll was absent.) The Mayor thereupon declared
the motion carried and the ordinance passed and adopted.
Mayor Kinder then signed the original copy of this
ordinance in approval thereof. Edgar J.Friedrich, City Clerk,
attested the Mayor's signature and impressed the corporate
seal of the City thereon.
The motion was made by Alderman Bishop and seconded
by Fulle to adjourn. The motion was voted upon by acclamation
whereupon the Mayor declared the motion carried and the Council
regularly adjourned.

MARCH,A.D.1S35 AT THE HOUR OF 8:00 P.M.
GALL TO. ORDER:
The meeting 'was called to order by Mayor
George W.Kinder presiding, with Aldermen Arbe, Pflughaupt,
Tulle, Huxmann , Bishop, Frederick, Neal, ;c zwanbeck and
Meinshausen responding to the roll call. Alderman Carroll
was absent during this roll call, but arrived shortly
thereafter.
REPORTS OF OFFICERS:
The Clerk then read the following reports:

The report of E.J.Friedrich,City Clerk, for Feb.1S35
- A copy of the report of C.M.Larson, City Treasurer, was
supplied to each member of the Council.
REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES:
None of the standing committees of the Council
had a report to offer.
