The motion was made by Alderman rflughaupt and seconded by
Neal to pass and adopt this proposed resolution. The Mayor
put the question, and the Clerk called the roll with the
following result: Ayes; Aldermen Ahbe, Carroll, Pflughaupt,
-'ulle, Huxmann, Bishop, Frederick, Neal, Schwanbeck and
Meinshausen. Nays; None. The Mayor thereupon declared the
motion carried and the resolution adopted.
REPAIRING SIDEWALKS: Mayor Kinder reported that
while he has no further information regarding the matter of
repairing sidewalks with the aid of the Illinois Emergency
Relief Commission, he will be in a position to offer some facts
at the next meeting of the Council.
ADJOURNMENT: The motion was made by Alderman
Meinshausen and seconded by Fulle to adjourn. The motion
was voted upon by acclamation, whereupon the Mayor declared
the motion carried and the Counci regularly adjourned.

MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DES PLAINES
HELD 1N THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS ON THE.18th
DAY OF FE BRUARY,A.D.193 b AT THE HOUR OF
8:00 P.M.

CALL TO ORDER:
The meeting was called `^ oder by Mayor George
W.Kinder, presiding, with Alderweil Carroll, Pflughaupt,
Fulle, Huxrnann, Bishop, Frederick, deal and Meinshausen
responding to the roll call. Aldermen Ahbe and Schwanbeck
were absent during this roll call but arrived shortly after
the beginning of the meeting.
THE JUDICIARY AND ASSESSMENT COMMITTEE had no
report to offer.
THE POLICE AND LICENSE COMMITTRE HAD NO REPORT
TO OFF R.
THE STREETS AND SIDEWALKS COMMITTEE reported through
its chairman, Alderman Frederick, that a reflector sign is
badly needed at the corner of Des Plaines Avenue and Oakton Street.
This matter was recommitted to the Streets and Sidewalks Committee
by the Mayor.
(At this time Aldermen Ahbe and Schwanbeck reported
their presence at the meeting.)
Alderman Frederick reported further that Mr.Leonard
Poyer, of the Poyer Service Station has asked the City to remove
a light post in front of his property on Miner Street, and to
eliminate the parkway and provide a continous drivevay for
practically his entire frontage. It was reported that this may
involve an e xpense of about $6.00 to the City. The motion was
made by Alderman t'flughaupt and seconded by Meinshausen to refer

this matter to the Streets and Sidewalks Committee with power
to act. The motion was noted -upon by acclamation, whereupon
the Mayor declared the motion carried.
THE COMMITTEE ON PUBLIC WORKS AND BUILDINGS had
na report to offer.
THE FIRE COMMJTTEE had no report to offer.
THE SEWER DRAINAGE & SANITATION COMMITTEE had no
report to offer.
THE WATER COMMITTEE had no report to offer.
SPECIAL COMMITTEE ON RELIEF WORK PROJECTS reported
through its chairman, Alderman Bishop, that his committee
met and after a comprehensive survey, outlined 18 prospective
projects totalling over 3 millions of collars. Among the
projects (which Alderman Bishop said nothing more than
surveys at this time) are the completion of the Riverview
School, and the building of a new City Hall with Library
and Fire Hall located on the present Library site..
SPECIAL ASSESSMENT #60: Kenneth Meyer, City
Attorney, reported that the officers of the City have been
served with a summons by Lawrence A. Cuneo, who demands
payment of 42,000.00 principal plus accrued interest on
Bonds numbers 52 and 83 of Special Assessment #60, matured
December 31,1527. The City Attorney stated that he will
appear, for the City in this case.
REFERENDUM ON LIQUOR: The Clerk then read the
following proposed resolution:
RESOLUTION
DIRECTING THE SUBMITTING TO THE VOTERS
OF THE CITY OF DES PLAINES THE PROPOSITION
"-SHALL THE SALE AT RETAIL OF ALCOHOLIC
LIQUOR BE PROHIBITED IN THE CITY OF DES
PLAINES, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS".
WHEREAS there has been filed with the City Clerk
of this City the requisite petition as required by law,
requesting that the proposition, "shall the sale at retail
of alcoholic liquor be prohibited in the City of Des Plaines,
Cook County, Illinois", be submit1 to the voters of the
City of Des Plaines at the next Lei2.1l election, and
WHEREAS the next general election in the City of Des
Plaines is to be held April 16,1935,
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED By the City Council of the
City of Des Plaines, that the proposition "Shall the sale
at retail of alcoholic liquor be prohibited in the City of
Des Plaines, Cook County, Illinois" be submitted to the
voters of this City at the next general election to be held
April 16,1:35.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is #ereby
instructed to publish a notice in the DES PLAINES SUBURBAN
TIMES that said proposition will be submitted to the votes
of this City at the general election to be held April 16,
1e35.
±th IT -.FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk have pre-
pared, the necessary ballots for said proposition, as re-
quired by law.

The motion was made by Alderman Pflughaupt and seconded by
keinshausen to insert the words "Des Plaines Suburban Times"
in the Blank space intended for designating the medium.in
which notice of this special election shall be given; and
to pass and adopt this proposed resolution with the nameUDes
Plaines Suburban Times*. so inserted. The Mayor put the question
and the rollvas called on the motion with the following result:
Ayes; Aldermen Ahbe, Carroll, Pflughaupt, Fulle, H uxmann,
Bishop, Frederick, Neal, Schwanbeck and Meinshausen. Nays;
None. The Mayor thereupon declared the motion carried and
the resolution adopted.
GENERAL ELECTION April 16, 1535: City Attorney,
Kenneth G.1&eyer, Called the Council's attention to the fact
that a complete list of polling places as well as a list
of Judges and Clerks of election should be available before
the next meeting of the Council in order that the notice of
election may be properly pgsted.
RE ,VEST FOR DIS -ANNEXATION; Kenneth G.Meyer,
City Attorney, then reported on the request a,r dis-annexation
of certain farm property in the extreme 1ortgstern part of
the City, outlining the procedure. He suggested that should
the Council pass an ordinance dis-annexing this are45 the
petitioners should bear any incidental expenses such as
recording fees and the cost of publication of notices.

The motion was made by Alderman Pflughaupt and seconded by Ahbe
to authorize Chas.1t.Larson, City Treasurer, to engage an auditor
to check the Special Assessment Account at the County Clerk's
office in an attempt to get such Special Assessment moneys as the
County Clerk has in his possession. Said auditor to receive 2%
of such moneys collected for the City. The Mayor put the
question, and the roll was called by the Clerk with the
following result: Ayes; Aldermen Ahbe, Carroll, Pflughaupt,
Pulte, Huxmann, Bishop, Frederick, Neal, Schwanbeck and Meins-
hausen. Nays; None. The Mayor thereupon declared the motion

APPROVAL OF MINUTES: The motion was made by Alder-
man Pflughaupt and seconded by Neal to approve the minutes of
the regular Council meeting held February 4,1535 as written.
The motion was voted upon by acclamation, whereupon the Mayor
