The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon the
Mayor declared the motion carried.
The motion was made by Alderman Frederick and
seconded by Huxmann to instruct the Clerk to write the
Chicago and Northwestern Railroad and the State Highway
Department to provide lights at the veolf Golf Road
underpass at Cumberland. The lights to be as follows:
To be installed by C & =y W.Railroad:
Two (2) lights in stairway and tunnell
Three (3) lights in subway
5 lights total
To be installed by State Highway Department:
One (1) light in subway on pedestrian valk
One (1) light in subway on roadway
lights total.
The motion was voted upon by acclamation, whereupon the
Mayor declared the motion carried.

seconded by Fulle to adjourn. The motion was voted upon
by acclamation, whereupon the leayor declared the motion

The meeting was called to order by Mayor George
\'.Kinder, with Aldermen Ahbe, Carroll, 'flughaupt, Fulle,
Huxmann, Bishop, Frederick, Jeal, Schwanbeck and Meinshausen
responding to the roll call.
THE COMMITTEE CN PUBLIC Z:ORKSBUILDINNGS AND PLATS
was the only Council committee which had a report to offer.
Alderman. Ahbe, chairman of the committee, re -submitted a
revised ari;lication and plans of the Standard Cil Company
for the installation of six, ten thousand gallon under-
ground gasoline storage tanks. Inasmuch as several Alder-
men contended •that the tank capacity as well as the aggre-
gate total storage capacity of these tanks exceeds that
permitted by ordinance on property zoned for commercial
purposes, no action was taken in the matter. There beim
no motion regarding the matter, the Mayor ordered that the
Council pass on to the next order of business.
CLEANING UP LOTS AT GR^-LCELAI`fl) AND OAKWOOD AVENUES.

and material removed by such owners. We do not know

of our school finance problem in this state presented
by G.E.Thompson, Superintendent of Schools in St.Charles.
This meeting will be held in the Junior Nigh School
Auditorium Tuesday evening October 23,1534, at 8:CC o'clock.
Mr. Thompson has worked on a State Teachers' Associ-
ation Committee in close touch with the legislature for
the past three years. ne knows what has been taking
place and what our problems are for the future.
Our state tax system needs serious study. kt
is not a simple problem. We need all the information

The Mayor urged everyone to attend this meeting if possible,

WOLF ROAD PAVING: Mayor Kinder called attention
to the fact that the Contractor who has the State or County
contract to pave Wolf Road has broken up rather prematurely
the paving and sidewalks on Prairie Avenue and Greenview
Avenue where wolf Road is to corss these streets. Alderman
Frederick, chairman of the Streets and Sidewalks Committee
reported that he has been investigating the matter and will
contact the contractor regarding the sane.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: The motion was made by
Alderman Bishop and seconded by "leinshEusen to approve the
minutes of the regular meeting held October 1,134, as
well as those of the special meeting held on Thursday,
October 11,15'34 as written. The motion was voted upon by
acclamation, whereupon the Mayor declared the motion carried
and the minutes approved.
APPROVAL OF INVOICES: Alderman Fflughaupt, chair-
man of the Finance Committee then presented the following
