The motion was made by Alderman Pflughaupt and seconded by
Collet to to adopt this proposed resolution. The roll was
called on the motion with the following result: Ayes;
Aldermen Ahbe, Collet, Pflughaupt, Dean, Huxmann, bishop,
Friott, Frederick, Enzenbacher and iileinshausen. Nays;
None. The Mayor thereupon declared the motion carried
and the resolution adopted.
City Attorney Kenneth Meyer then reported that
a hearing will be held before the Illinois Commerce Com-
mission on the application of the Uhtion to Lake Bus Line*
for a certificate of convenience and necessity to operate.
as a motor carrier of passengers between the City of Crystal
Lake and the City of Chicago, and intermediate points. He
stated that the Council on July 18,1932 opposed the granting
of this certificate, and he, as City Attorney, agreed to
represent the City at the hearing at 10:00 A., Thursday
January 18,1934.
The motion was made by Alderman Pflughaupt, and
seconded by Dean to approve the minutes of the regular
meeting of January 2,1934, and the minutes of the adjourned
meeting of January 8,1934 as written. The motion was voted
upon by acclamation, whereupon the Mayor declared the motion
carried and theminutes approved.

Upon call of Mayor George W.Kinder there will
be a special meeting, of the City Council in the City
Clerk's Office at 8:CC P.M.on Thursday, February 1,1934.
The purpose of the meeting is to pass a reso-
lution which the Federal Government requires in con-
nection with our C.W.A.Pro j ects.
The meeting should be very short, as the
passage of the resolution rewires only a few minutes.

The meeting was called to order by Mayor Gear e
W. Kinder with Aldermen Collet, kflughaupt, Dean, Huxmann,
Bishopâ–ş, Friott. Frederick and Meinshausen responded to the
roll call. Aldermen Ahbe and Enzenbacher were absent.
Manor Kinder then stated that the Federal Civil
Work Administration requires the passage of the following
resolution which was read by the Clerk:
RESOLUT I O N
WHEREAS, the City of Des Plaines has been co-
operating with the Civil works Administration; and
1 ?EREAS. certain projects, making the employment
of men and women possible have heretofore been ordered
and approved by the City of Des Plaines, whereby the
City has taken advantage of government assistance;
an d
WHEREAS. under the agreement betveen this City
and the Civil Works administration it is necessary for
the City to furnish one-half of materials as set forth
in Item 11 of the approved form of application and also
all material, and supplies required under Item 111 of
the approved form of application; and
WH7REAS,"the total commitment of the City of
Des Plaines for projects, heretofore approved under
the Civil Works Administration amounts to 8,400.00.
THEREFORE. BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council
of the City of Des Plaines, that there be designated
and set part the sum of S8,40C.00 from sums hereto-
fore appropriated for the various City Departments,
for the payment of the City's portion of said projects.

motion with the following result: Ayes; Aldermen Collet,

Meinshausen. Nays; None. The Mayor thereupon declared the
Motion carried and the resolution adopted.
Mayor Kinder then stated that the water ruin is
being laid in connection with the underpass of Golf Rd. under
the Northwestern Railroad tracks. He stated that as per
agreement the City is to bill the State Highway Department
for materials and labor contributed for this job by the City,
and is to be rebated for the same.

responding to the roll call. Aldermen Ahbe and Enzenbacher
arrived shortly after the roll call.

The Mayor and each of the Aldermen were supplied
with copies of the Treasurer's report for the Calender month
of January,lc34. These reports were referred to the Finance
Committee and the Police Committee respectively.
The Judiciary and Assessment Committee had no re-
port to offer.
The .eolice and License Committee had no report to
offer.
The Streets and Sidewalks Committee had no report
to offer:
The Committee on Public Bldgs. had no report to offer.
The Sewer, Drainage & Sanitation Committee had no
report to offer.
Alderman Bishop, chairman of the Water Committee
reported that the water main job at Wolf Rd. and Northwest
Highway is completed, and that the bill for material and
labor used is ready to be sent to the State Highway Department.
Alderman bishop, further reported that frequent re-
ports have come to the Water Committee's attention, that water
meters have been tampered with. He stated that the Water Com-
mittee contemplates a thorough inspection and sealing of all
meters in service in the City, and a strict enforcement of the
City ordinances on this point.
Alderman Bishop further stated that an attempt
would be made to induce the Northwestern Railroad to share
with the City the cost of pumping water at the Norma Well.
