ViINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED MFRTING OF
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DES
PLAINES HELD IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS
ON THE 8th DAY 0F:ANUARY,A.D.193Z AT
THE HOUR OF 8:00 P.M,
The meeting was called to order by Mayor George
W.KAnder, with Aldermen. Ahbe, Collet, Pflughaupt, Dean,
Huxmann, Bishop, Frederick, Enzenbacher and. Meinshausen
responding to the roll call.
Mayor Kinder then called on Mrs. A.A. Stemmerman
the City HealhDepartment's delegate to the Illinois Health
Officers Conference held at Springfield, Illinois on the
14th and 15th of December,1933, who rendered a complete
report on the conference. The motion was made by Alderman
Huxmann and seconded by Bishop to place this report on file
and thank .rs. Stemmerman for the time and effort spent
in attending this conference and preparing this report.
The motion was voted upon by acclamation, whereupon the
Mayor declared the motion carried.
Mayor Kinder then submitted a letter pertaining
to the President's Birthday Ball. The motion was made by
Alderman Huxmann and seconded by Eeinshausen to authorize
the Mayor and City Clerk to interview the various fraternal
organizations with a view toward promoting a *President's Ball*
in Des Plaines; and further give the Mayor and City Clerk
power to act for the City in this matter. The motion
was voted upon by acclamation, whereupon the Mayor declared
the motion carried.
.Carter Jenkins, City Engineer then presented the
matter of designating arterial streets within the City, and
was instructed by the Mayor to present a resolution on
this matter at the next meeting of the Council.
Alderman Pflughaupt, chairman of the Finance Com-
mittee then submitted the following resolutions
RESOLVED THAT THE FOLLOWING BILLS ARE
DUE AND PAYABLE AND THAT THE MAYOR AND
CITY CLERK BE INSTRUCTED TO ISSUE PROPER
VOUCHER -WARRANTS IN PAYMENT OF SAME. SAID
WARRANTS TO BE RELEASED UPON ORDER OF THE
FINANCE COMMITTEE WHEN FUNDS ARE AVAILABLE.

The motion was made by Alderman Huxmann and seconded by
Collet to adopt this proposed resolution. The roll *as
called on the motion with the following results Aes;
Aldermen Ahbe, Collet, Pflughaupt, Dean, Huxmann, Bishop,
Frederick, Enzenbacher and Meinshausen. Nays; done. The
Mayor thereupon declared the motion carried and the resolution
adopted.
Alderman Huxmann made a motion, which was seconded
by Frederick, to pay the $430.26 earned premium on the
City's Automobile liability insurance policy, and that the
premium be charged by the treasurer to the proper city
departments. proportionately. The roll was called on the
motion with the following result: Ayes; Aldermen Ahbe,
Collet, Pflughaupt, Dean, Huxmann, Bishop, Frederick, Enzen-
bacher and Meinshausen. Nays; none. The Mayor thereupon
declared the motion carried.
Alderman Huxmann, chairman of the Police and License
Committee read a report on the matter of business licenses,
dated January 8,1934. The motion was made by Alderman
Frederick and seconded by Collet to accept the recommendation
included in this report and to therefore instruct the City
Attorney to draft a proposed ordinance and submit same to
the Council at its next meeting. The motion was voted upon
by acclamation, whereupon the Mayor declared the motion
carried.
The motion was made by Alderman Meinshausen and
seconded by Collet to adjourn. The motion wasvoted upon
by acclamation, whereupon the Mayor declared the motion
carried and the Council regularly adjourned.
