The meeting was called to order by Mayor Charles Hammerl with Aldermen Ahbe, Collet, l'flughaupt, Dean, huxmann, Kinder, Lacey, Friott, Fnzenbacrier and Meinshausen responding to the roll call. The Clerk then read the following letter: -Mayor and City Council of the City of Des Plaines, Cook County, Illinois. Aril 25, 1933. Inge: Prairie Avenue. Gentlemen.: Following the authority given to the Treasurer at the last meeting to pay on account of vouchers in this proceeding the sum of $150.00, arrangements have been made for the purchase of the outstanding vouchers by the Highschool district. • I, therefore, request that I be authorized and directed to enter•an order by consant in the County Court of Cook County cancelling, by consent of the outstanding obligations, the assessments now of record. This is for the purpose of removing from the•records of property some assessments which were assessed in error. Very truly yo.xs, DB:`:CL• D. B. MALONEY, The motion was made by Alderman Huxmann and seconded by Meinshausen that Ih. L'aloney, attorney, be authorized as requested in the last paragraph of the foregoing letter. The roll•was called on the motion with the following result: Ayes; Aldermen Ahbe, Collet, yflughaupt, Dean, Huxnann, Kinder, "acey, Friott, Fnzenbacher and Lei shausen. Nays; 'None. The Mayor thereupon declared the motion carried. .The Clerk then read the following letter: April 25th, 1233. u`ayor and City °clznoil of the City of 1)es Plaines, Cook County, Illinoia. In ire: Special Assessment No. 100 Gentlemen: Some time ago I was directed to proceed with the preparation of a rebate roll in No. 100 which I at that time estimated coulc be done for 1150.00. Since that time I have already paid -out in salaries for this -roll over 1300.o0 and we have up to this ti:e finished the legal descriptions together•tiwith inserting the original assessments. There still remains the pro -rating of assessments. The reason that the estimated amount was not sufficient to complete this roll was that upon examination of the files of the County Court, I found that at least one hundred correction orders had been entered correcting former descriptions and which required us tc make an entirely new assessment roll in order to have the descriptions conform to the tax records. It was impractical tc endeavor to follow the correction orders. I feel that the 1150.00 provided is due in this matter and -if the Council desires the matter completed, it may be done under my direction or as the Council provides. I submit herewith bill for 1150.00. Very truly yours, DE]:DEICL D. M. MALONEY 88 Also the following invoice attached thereto: CITY OF DES PLAINES April 25, 1. 33. TO DAVID B. In Re: Central States Electric Comppay vs. Johnson Electric, City of res Dlaines, et al. Gentlemen: At the last meeting of the City Council, a resolu- tion was passed a uthorizing the payment of ;$600.00 to Master in Chancery William A. Doyle in this matter. This was with the hope of workipg cur some adjustment which would avoid further litigation. I have been successful in iItrylir inducing the parties to accept such bonds and vouchers as the City can now issue as wall as the $600.00 cash. The decree on the n4}echanics lien proceeding will be entered tomorrow morning Ind the matter finally completed excepting for the turning over thf bonds, vouchers and cash. Bonds of $3000.00 will be, issued cut Of the 3th, 9th and 10th, installments; three classes of vouchers will be issued, Class "A" vouchers of $3000.00 cut of past due assessments, Class "B" vouchers of $3161.23 out of any supplezlental assess- ment to be levied, both Class "A" and Class "Bp vouchers bearing interest, and Class "C" vouchers of .3293.00 being issued in payment of interest accrued on Voucbter'No. 42 which will not bear interest and will be payable out of any supplemental assessment to be levied. A considerable amount of time has been spent on this matter before the Master and in endeavoring to bring the matter to a conclusion. In view of the difficulties facing the City in the case, special efforts seemed warranted in endeavoring to work out the adjustment which has been com- pledted. the Tinie spent on this matter over the period of the last four years has been considerable. However, I am making a,charge of $200.00 for the entire matter. The matter„ not having been completed in the ti_e of the statement heretofore furnished, was not included in that statement.
