The following notice was aent.by messenger to and to each of the Aldermen not less than 24 hours time of the meeting: - Dear Sir: Upon order of Mayor Hammerl there will be a special meeting of the City Council of the City of Des Plaines, on Tuedday Evening, May 24th, at 8:00 O'Clock P. M. at the City Hall. The purppse of the meeting is to arrange for a sufficient Surety bond for the City's funds, as well as to decide upon other important business matters.. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Charles Hammerl, with Aldermen Ahbe, Collet, Pflughaupt, Dean Huxmann, Kinder, Friott, Enzenbacher and Meinshausen. responding to the roll call. Alderman Lacey announced his presence shortly after the roll call. The claim of W. H. Moore for *3350.00 claimed to be still. due him for extras in connection with the widening and'paving of Ellinwood Street between Lee Street and Des Plaines Ave. was dis- cussed at length by Mr. Maloney, attorney for ,the. City, W. H. Moore, contractor, Mr. Green engineer for Mr. Moore, Mr. W. H. Allen City engineer at the time the improvement was made. While no action was taken by the Council in this matter, it was however the sense of the Council that a final estimate be filed in the amount of $26,690.110 instead of $25,698.10 thus allowing Mr. Moore *1000.00 on his claim. This matter was referred to Mr. Maloney by the Mayor. The proposed ordinance was read enabling the City to use both its wells on Des Plaines Ave. near Ashland Ave. and the Norma Well together with the eater Stell; and fixing the rate for water taken from the Cater Well at ten cents per thousand gallons less the cost of electric current for pumping. After considerable discussion the Mayor referred the proposed ordinance to a special committee consisting of the members of the Water Committee together with Alderman Huxmann and Mr. Maloney, Attorney for the City, with instructions to arrange a conference with Mr. Cater and his coo with a view toward getting Mr. Cater to grant the relief sought in the proposed water ordinance. It was agreed that Alderman Kinder arrange for this conference, The Clerk then read the following resolution: RESOLUTION DESIGNATING DEPOSITORY FOR CITY TREASURER. The motion was lade by Alderman Ahbe and seconded by Collet to Adopt this resolution. The roll was called on the motion with the following result: Ayes; Aldermen Ahbe, Collet, Pflughaupt, Dean, Huxmann, Kinder, Lacey, Pri©tt, Enzenbacher and M Amehausen. Nays; None. The Mayor thereupon declared the motion carried and the resolution adopted. After considerable discussion on the matter of a depository bond to secure the City's funds, the motion was made by Alderman Hux- mannd seconded by Lacey to instruct the Finance Committee to atte*$ 40 arrange with the First National Bank of Des Plaines to secure the City's deposits as Follows: 573 1. To create a trust of $30,000 and 2. To furnish a *50,000.00 depository bond at its own expense. thus securing the City's funds up to an amount of approximately $80,000.00 The roll was calked on the Motion with the following result; Ayes; Alder- ` man Ahbe, Collet, Pflughaup t, Dean, Huxmann, Kinder, Dacey, Friott, Enzenbacher and Meinshaueen. Nays; None. The Mayor thereupon declared the' Mitien carried. City engineer, Carter Jenkins, then presented to the Council a request of Milburn Bros., Contractors to grade Sycamore Street and Maple Street to the proposed grade and permit Milburn Bore. to remove the soil and use it as fill for the extension of Algonquin Road(Keeney Ave.). This is to be done without- expense totho City. The motion was made by Alderman Huxrnann and seconded by Epzenbacher to refer this request to the Streets & Sidewa.kss Committee with power to act. The motion was voted upon by acclamation, whereupon Mayor Hammerl declared the motion carried. The motion was made by Alderman Enzenbacher and seconded by Collet that the Council adjourn. The motion was voted upon by Aocla- mation, whereupon the Mayor declared the motion carried, and the Council a,dj onrned.
