MINUTES OF TIE SPECIAL FETING OF
THE CITY COUNCIL OF TEE CITY OF
DES PLAI1JES HELD IN TEE CITY CLERK'S
OFFICE, THE 12th DAY OF JANUARY A. D.
1932. AT' 8:00 P. M.
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Charles Haamierl,
'with Aldermen Ahbe,`Collet, Suster, Pflughaupt, Kinder, Lacey, Wettin,
and Meinshausen; responding t6 roll call. Aldermen Huxmann and
Enzenbacher were absent.
Mr Maloney attorney for the City explained the demands
made in the bill of complaint filed by Wm. H. Cater against the
City of Des Plaines in the Circuit Court. The motion was made by
Alderman Lacey and seconded by Collet that the Council authorize the
payment of the bill rendered the City by Wm. H. Cater for Water used
during the month of November. The rollvas called on the motion with
the following result: Ayes; Aldermen Ahbe, Collet, Suster, Pflughaupt,
Kinder, Lacey, Wettin and Meinshausen. Nays; None. The chairman there-
upon declared the motion carried.
Mr. Maloney, Attorney for the City reported that an amendment
to the injuries Act, which became effective July 1, 1931 makes munici-
palities liable for injuries resulting from negligence of drivers of
fire tracks, owned by municipalities, and suggested that for this reason
the City's Fire Trucks should continue carrying liability insurance.
Alderman Enzenbacher Chairman of the r'inance Committee
reported that the Finance Committee feels that since the suggestion
of Otto Rexses regarding a periodic audj.t be heeded and that Chas.
J. Anderson Co., has install a well organized system of books for
the City, it is important that the proceedure should be checked up
periodically by Mr. Weiner, who installed the system, to see that
the general scheme is adhered to. The motion was made by Alderman
Collet'and seconded by Wettin t o instruct Mr. Arthur Weiner to make
a check-up to see that,the system of accounts, recently installed
by him, is adhered to. The motion was voted upon by acclamation,
whereufion the Mayor declared the motion carried.
The motion was made by Alderman Collet and seconded by
Meshausen to adjourn. The motion was voted upon by acchation,
whereupon the Mayor declared the motion carried, and ...the Council
regularly adjourned. 7
