02/24/1931 Special MeetingMinutes of a Special Meeting of the City
Council of the City of Des Plaines, held
in the Co-ancil Chambers on the 24th day
of February, 1931, at the hour of 8:00 P.M.
The Clerk being absent, it was duly moved, seconded and unan-
imously carried that Alderman Knabb be elected Clerk pro tem; where-
upon Alderman Knabb assumed his duties as Clerk pro tem.
The Clerk pro tem then read the notice of the call of the
meeting, which was in words and figures following:
"Dear Sir: February 23rd, 1931.
At the request of Mayor Ham-nerl I am calling
a Special Meeting of the City Council to be held Tuesday
evening:, February 24, 1931, at the hour of eight o'clock
P. M. This meeting will be held in the Council Chambers
at the City Hall.
The Meeting is called for the purpose of further
considering the Resolution presented by the Finance Com-
mittee at the Special Meeting held last week.

On roll call, the following were present: Mayor Hannerl,
Aldermen Kinder, Ahbe, Enzenbacher, Collett, Lacey, "Tettin, Knabb,
Schlapel, Heesch, and. Suster. Absent: None.
The Mayor stated that the meeting had been called for the
purpose of further considering what action should be taken, if any,
concerning the discrepancy in the accounts of the City, and asked
the attorney to explain Whether or not the Council could take any
action effecting the offices of City Clerk and City Treasurer. The
attorney advised the Council that, in his opinion, the Council did
not have the power to declare the offices vacant.
After considerable discussion by the members of the Council,
it was moved by .Abe and seconded by Wettin that the City Clerk be
asked to resign immediately, on -hich motion a roll call was had
with the following result:
.Ayes: Kinder, Ahbe, Enzenbacher, Collett, Lacey,
Wettin, Knabb, Schlagel, Heesch, Suster.
Nays: None.
It was then moved by Schlegel and seconded by Enzenbacher that
the City Treasurer be asked to resign, on which motion roll call was
had with the following result:

After some further discussion, it was :roved by Enzenbacher
and seconded by Suster that the motion last votea on be reconsidered,
on which motion to reconsider a roll call was had with the follow-
ing result:
Ayes: Kinder, Ahbe, Enzenbacher, Collett, Lacey,
Wettin, Knabb, Schlagel, Heesch, Suster.
Nays: None
It was thereupon moved by Enzenbacher and seconded. by Suster
that the motion heretofore made to the effect that the City Treasurer
be askedto resign, be amended to react, "That the City Treasurer be
directed to bring his books down to date and asked to resign as of
March 16, 1931," on which motion to amend said motion a roll call was
had with the following result:
Ayes Kinder, Ahbe, Enzenbacher, Collett, Lacey,
Wettin, Knabb, Schlagel, Heesch, Su -ter.
Nays: None.
Thereupon, the original motion to the effect that the City
Treasurer be asked to resign, as amended, was put to a vote and a
roll call had with the following result:
Ayes: Kinder, Ahbe, Enzenbacher, Collett, Lacey,
Wettin, Knabb, Schlargel, Eeesch, Suster.
rays: None.
Thereupon, on motion duly made, seconded and unanimously carried,
the meeting was adjourned.
