Mayor hammerl called tne meeting to order witri Alder- man Collet, Ahbe, Heesch, binder,- Schlagel, Lacey, Wettin, nnadb and Enzenbacner answering to roll call. Alderman Suster being absent. Alderman hnabb moved that the minutes of the last Regular meeting be approved as written. Alderman Collet seconded this motion and tne same carried -by vote of acclamation. The report of the police Department for the month of - September wag read and ordered placed on file. The report of the Uity-bollector covering coliections up to and including October 1st, iS60 was read and referred to the Finance Committee. Your Committee On rolice & License to whom was referred The Matter, regarding the installation of improved type flashing Traffic signals, in accordance with the ropo.sition entered into, aspf.r the minutes of the City `ouncil meeting of August, 4th, 1530 and having had the same under advisement and have had the signals installed as per instructions, beg to report: That this type of signal meets with the recommendation of the jlationai safety Council and is being used successfuly for regulating I raffic in the City of enicago and other 235 Communities in this ,unity. The installation of these signals will kelp to regulate traffic and avoid accidents at these locations where now installed, and they meet with the api;roval •of the Committee and the chief of Police. Yaur Committee recommends that tree ,mayor and City clerk be authorized to enter into a contract with the rational street Lighting Constructors Inc. for the installation, operation and Laintenance of an illuminated flashing type battery operated traffic Signal to be located at the intersection of Center and llinwood St. in accordance with the letter previously suomitted, for tne installation charge of Seven and 14/100 Dollars and sixty monthly payments of six and 32/100 Dollars. APPARATUS TO BE FURNISHED WE propose to furnish 1 Type "C" Police Desk, and complete re- cording devices for recording all sig- nals sent over the circuit, these sig- nals to oe properly stamped with the year, month, day, hour and minute that they are transmitted. Lee St. andliinwood Ave. Cora and A,eeney Ave.. • This equipment and line will be installed on existing pole lines, it belrig understood that the City will furnish us the rijht of way over such pole lines. Jquipment will be in exact accordance with the equipment which was demonstrated to you'be our kr. , E. aalisbury on September 22nd. PRICE Our price for the above equipment, completely installed and turned over to the City in working order, would not exceed T'en Thousand Three hundred Jighty-Two Dollars and Sixty Uents (4►1C,382.60) at this time. The Fire Committee reported tnat five Hundred feet of new -`ire hose had been purchased. Alderman Lacey reported that the Committee felt that the bids for the construction of a municipal garage were in excess of the present finances and for that reason he moved that all bids be rejected and tne checks of tne bidders returned. Alderman Ahbe seconded this motion and tne roll was called with the follow- ing result; Ayes Alderman Collet, Ahbe, neescn, Sahlagei, Kinder, Yettin, Lacey, nnabb and Lnzenbscner. hone voting i4ay the Aiayor declared the motion carried. Alderman Collet moved that the City Clerk be instructed to notify property owners to repair broken sidewalks within 10 days Am the City would proceed to do this work and charge same to the property owners.
