Mayor hammerl called tne meeting to order witri Alder-
man Collet, Ahbe, Heesch, binder,- Schlagel, Lacey, Wettin, nnadb
and Enzenbacner answering to roll call. Alderman Suster being
absent.
Alderman hnabb moved that the minutes of the last
Regular meeting be approved as written. Alderman Collet seconded
this motion and tne same carried -by vote of acclamation.
The report of the police Department for the month of -
September wag read and ordered placed on file.
The report of the Uity-bollector covering coliections
up to and including October 1st, iS60 was read and referred to the
Finance Committee.
The following comunication was presented to tne City
Council at this time:

Fritz of this -Department as night rolice Sergeant,
thereby creating the responsibility to one man, who
will assume all responsibility of the Night Police
Officers and their Duties.

advanced to 4165.00 per month following its appoint-
ment.

referred The Matter, regarding the installation of
improved type flashing Traffic signals, in accordance
with the ropo.sition entered into, aspf.r the minutes of
the City `ouncil meeting of August, 4th, 1530 and
having had the same under advisement and have had the
signals installed as per instructions, beg to report:
That this type of signal meets with the recommendation
of the jlationai safety Council and is being used successfuly
for regulating I raffic in the City of enicago and other

Communities in this ,unity. The installation of these
signals will kelp to regulate traffic and avoid accidents
at these locations where now installed, and they meet
with the api;roval •of the Committee and the chief of Police.
Yaur Committee recommends that tree ,mayor and
City clerk be authorized to enter into a contract
with the rational street Lighting Constructors Inc.
for the installation, operation and Laintenance
of an illuminated flashing type battery operated
traffic Signal to be located at the intersection
of Center and llinwood St. in accordance with
the letter previously suomitted, for tne installation
charge of Seven and 14/100 Dollars and sixty monthly
payments of six and 32/100 Dollars.
Your Committee wishes to report further that
the signals at the following .vocations also be
accepted on the same basis.

considerable discussion the roll was called with the following

Mayor declared the motion lost.

and re -call system for the City of Des Plaines.

1 Type "C" Police Desk, and complete re-
cording devices for recording all sig-
nals sent over the circuit, these sig-
nals to oe properly stamped with the
year, month, day, hour and minute that
they are transmitted. Tne desk will
have the necessary telephone equipment
and will oe equipped with a flashlight
panel and transmitter.

PRICE
Our price for the above equipment, completely
installed and turned over to the City in working order, would
not exceed T'en Thousand Three hundred Jighty-Two Dollars and
Sixty Uents (4►1C,382.60) at this time.
TERMS
We are prepared to make the following t erns
if you so desire:
la% of the contract price to De paid by the City
on completion of installation, balance to be paid
in ten equal yearly payments, with interest at
6% on balance unpaid.

The Fire Committee reported tnat five Hundred feet of
new -`ire hose had been purchased.
Alderman Lacey reported that the Committee felt that
the bids for the construction of a municipal garage were in excess
of the present finances and for that reason he moved that all bids
be rejected and tne checks of tne bidders returned. Alderman
Ahbe seconded this motion and tne roll was called with the follow-
ing result; Ayes Alderman Collet, Ahbe, neescn, Sahlagei, Kinder,
Yettin, Lacey, nnabb and Lnzenbscner. hone voting i4ay the Aiayor
declared the motion carried.
Alderman Collet moved that the City Clerk be instructed
to notify property owners to repair broken sidewalks within 10
days Am the City would proceed to do this work and charge same
to the property owners. Alderman Lacey seconded this motion and
the roll was called with the following result: Ayes Alderman
Collet, Ahbe, heescn, Schlagel, hinder, 'wetting Lacey, Knabb and
Enzenbacher. hone voting hay the igayor declared the motion carried.
Alderman nnabb movF_.d that tne city Attorney communicate
with Williams Bros. regarding the damage done to tne ewer on
Webford Ave. caused by cement and paint left in the Street when
they cleaned tiaeir mixers and machinery. Alderman Schlagel seconded
this motion and the roll was called with the following results
Ayes Alderman Collet, Anbe, Beescn, Kinder, Schlagel, Wettin,
Lacey, Knabb and Enzenbacner. bone voting Ilay the Agayor declared

instructed to be exceedingly careful with respect to their firing
at this point and we nave asked our Road Foreman of Lngines, ter.

up from time to time to see that the firemen comply with our
instructions.

Alderman Ahbe presented the following resolution:
lwhereas many residents of the City of i)es Plaines
reside east of the yes Plaines river and continuously
use the bridge across the Les Plaines river at ,diner ot. and
WHEREAS the said bridge is in constant use by
the Citizens of Des Plaines and
WHEREAS it would be a serious inconvience to the
people of Des Plaines if the said bridge was closed during
the time work is being done oy the estate Highway Department
BE IT THEREFOR resolved oy the city council of the
City of 1'es Plaines that the Department of Public
corks and "uildings, Division of Highway be and they are
being requested to regrain from closing c aid bridge
during the enlarging of said bridge by the said,depart-
ment and that postion of the said bridge be left open
for public travel.

the Chicaog l+ortnwestern lsailway regarding a sneiter station for
