THE MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING
OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DES
PLAINES HELD IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS
ON THE 7th DAY OF JULY A. D. 1930 AT
THE HOUR OF 8 O'CLOCK P. 14: -
Mayor Hammerl called the meeting to order with Alderman
Collet, Ahbe,Beesch, Suster, Kinder, Schlagel, Wettin, Lacey,
Knabb and .nzenbacher answering to roll call.
Alderman achlagel moved that the minutes of the Regular
meeting held June loth; 1930 and those of the adjourned meeting
held Tune 23dbe approved as written. Alderman Collet seconded this
motion and the same carried by vote of acclamation.
The report of the Police Department for the month of June
was read and ordered placed on file.
-The report of the City Collector covering collections to
June 30th, 2930 was read and referred to the Finance Gommittee.
The Judiciary and Assessment Committee had no report to
make at this time.
The Police and License Committee had no report to make at
this time.
The Streets and Sidewalks Committee had no report to make
at this time.
The Public Worka Fife, Banding and 4ity Plats Committee
had no report to make at this time.
The Sewer Drainage and Sanitation ''ommittee had no report
to make at this time.
The Water and Water Mains had no report to make at this
time.

CREATING A MUNICIPAL FUND TO BE KNOWN
AS " SPECIAL ASSESSMENT EXPENSE AND
INTEREST FUND" AND REGULATING ITS
ADMINISTRATION, IN THE CITY OF DES
PLAINES, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS.
Alderman Heesch moved that the ordinance be passed as read. Alder-
man Schlagel seconded this mottion and following considerable discuss-
ion the roll was called with following result. Ayes Collet, Ahbe,
Heesch, Suster, Schlagel, Wettin, Lacey, Knabb and Enzenbacher
man Kinder voting Nay Whereon the Mayor declared the motion carried
and the Ordinance passed as read.
The following Petition was presented to the Council at this
time.
PETITION.
-We, the undersigned property- owners and
business men, hereby petition your Honorable'
Board to Change the existing parking ordinance
on the North side of 'Liner St:, and 175- feet
West of Lee St., to Thirty (30) minute parking
from 7 A. M. to g F. M.
-"e agree to stand the expense of the
required signs.

My Dear Sir: -
The management of the Camp Grounds Association requests"
the "apointment"of W. ilarold Sloan as Special Police Officer for a three
month period beginning July first.
This courtesy has been granted us in past sE.asons, and it has co
conferred police authority on atm night watchman Mr. Sloan is a
man of sterling character, a Student for the minissary. ins will be
a ercdit to the Des 1'aines Police force.

Mayor Hammerl then appointed Mr. W. Harold Sloan as
Special Police from July 1st, 1c3C. to September -1st, 13C. Alder-

mation.

Gentlemen:
The above case pending in the '4ir,uit ""ourt of
Cook County will come up for hearing within a short time.
The proceeding was filed originally as a
MedhaniO's Lien'proceeding by persons furnishing materials
for Moore, the contractor on the paving of Ellinwood Street.
In the early stages of this case, the City
deposited the amount of bonds Whichit contedded was the
amount due the contractor. Mr. Moore now contends that
there is a -very Substantial sum due him in addition to the
amount deposited.
I have tried 't6 Make some satisfactory disposi-
tidt-Of this case;"have consulted with the engine'er and the

with the work, but up tb this time I have

Alderman "nzenbacher moved that the .eublic Works, Yire,
Building and. City Plats Committee be authorized to obtain bids
on the errection of a three car garage on the rear of the City
Hall kroperty. Alderman Schlagel seconded this motion and the roll
was called with the following result Ayes: Merman Collet, Ahbe,
Heesch, Suster, Schlagel, Kinder, Wettin, Lacey, Knabb and 'nzenbacher.
None voting Nay the Mayor declared the motion carried.
Alderman 2nzenbacher Moved that the Chairman of each
Committee oring in recommendations to the -qnande Committee on the
matter of salaries of City employees coining under their ComMittee
Juristriction. Alderman heesch seconded this motion and the roll
was called with the following result. Ayes: Alderman Collet, .:ihbe,
Heesch, juster, Schlagel, Kinder, Wettin, Lacey, Knalib and Enzenbacher.
None voting Nay the Ma:or declared the motion carried.
The matter of Bordons Trucks parking on the sidewalks
on Oakwood Avenue and the matter of limbs and rubbish blocking -the
alley 'south of 'iakWood-Avenue between Cora:Street and White Stweet
Was referred to •the Streets and sidewalks 'ommittee for such action
as they deemed necessary.
Alderman Schlagel moved that the City Clerk be instructed
to write the Des Plaines Foundry Co. requesting theM to instruct
their employees to refraim from parking on the sidewalk and park way
in front of the Foundry Building. Aiderth "uster-seconded this
motion and the same carried by vote of acclamation.

Alderman Schlagel moved that the resultion be adopted as read.
Alderman Collet seconded this miction and the Toll was called with
the following result. Ayes Alderman Collet, hbe, Heesch, Suster,
Kinder, Schlagel, Wettin, Lacey, Knabb and -2inzenbacher. None voting
Nay the Mayor declared the motion carried, the resolution adopted and
directed that the proper warrants be issued in payment of the Bills.
Alderman Suster moved that the Streets/ Sidewalks Committee
be autr,orized to cut the weeds on vacant property and send the bills
for same to the various property owners. "lderman Knabb seconded
this motion and -the roll was called with the following result Ayes:
Alderman Collet, Ahbe, Heesch, Suster, Wettin, Lacey, Knabb and
Enzenbacher. Alderman Kinder and 6chlagel voting Nay :whereon the
mayor declared the motin carried.
There being no further business to come before the city
Council at this time on motion duly made seconded and unanimously
carried same adjourned.
