06/23/1930187 THE MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DES PLAINES HELD IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS ON THE 23a DAY OF JUNE A. D. 1930 AT THE HOUR OF S OtCLOCK Y. M. Mayor hammerl called the meeting to order witin Alderman Collet, Ahbe, Heesch, Suster, Schlagel, joinder, Lacey, Vrettin, Knabb and-nzeibacher, answering to roll call. A representative of the Volunteers of America was present and was given permission to address the members of the Uouncil re- garding permission to hold a Tag Day in Des Plaines. Following the request considerable discussion arrose amoungst the Council members regarding the granting of such permission following which Alderman Knabb moved that the Volunteers of America be givin permission to hold a Tag Day on Saturday July 12th, 1930. Alderman Ahbe seconded this mct on.and the roll was calked with the following_result. Ayes Warman Collet, Ahbe, Kinder, wettin, and Knabb. frays Aiderman_neesch duster Scnlagel, Lacey and . nzenbacher. The result of the vote being a tie it became necessary for the Mayor to cast a deciding vote which he did by declaring that permission wax granted for the lag Day on July 12th, 1930. The Po4ice Committee presented the following report: - Des Plaines, lel. 6/30/30. To the Mayor and City Council: Your Committee on Police & License has investioAted the matter of the pruchase of a suitable Police Car and found Purnell & "ilsori (Ford Dealers) the low bidders. ye your Committee on Police & License therefore recommend: that the bed be accepted and i.ew Car ordered for Immediate Delivery Jain Suster Police Committee Edd. j1. jchlagel Henry Heesch Alderman Knabb moved that the report of the 'ommittee be accepted and the order be iasued for the new -Police Car and the repairs to the Old Car. Alderman Ahbe seconded this motion and the roll was called with the following result Ayes Alderman Collet, Ahbe, Heesch, Suster, Schlagel, hinder, wettin, Lacey, nnabb and .nzenbacher. crone voting Nay the Mayor declared the motion carried. Second reading of:- AN ORDINANCE4 WHEREAS, the City of Les Plaines has some title or interest in and to the following described property, to -wit: Lot .Five (5) in dock Two (2) in Mechanic's Addition to Des Plaines. AND WHEREAS, the said property is no longer necessary, nor is it suitable, to the needs of the City of Des Plaines, and that it is to the best interests of the City of Des Plaines that the interest of the City of Des Plaines in and to the said property be sold, and quitclaim deed delivered to the purchaser of the said property. BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Des Plaines, Cook County, Illinois: SECTION : lhat the mayor and City Clerk of the City of Des rlaines are hereby authorized and empowered to execute for and on behlaf of the City of Les Plaines a quit -Claim deed to .Lot Five (b) in 'lock Two (2) in -Mechanic's Addition to Des rlaines, to John Hahn, which said quit -claim deed shall be in words and figures as follows: THIS INDENTURE - Witnesseth: The Urantor, City of Des rlaines, a Municipal Lorporation, in the uounty of Cook and State of Illinois, for and in consideration of the sum of Twenty -Five (25.00) Dollars, conveys and quit -claims to John Hahn, all interest in the following described real estate, to -wit: 188 Lot rive (5) in -olock Two (2) in Aechanic's Addition to Des_Plaines. Second Reading of:- AN ORDINANCE WHEREAS, the City of Des Plaines has heretofore provided for the condemnation of certain properties for the opening of Prospect Avenue and also for the widening of Everett Street in the City of Des Plaines; and WHEREAS, the owners of the said property desire to dedicate property for street; and WHEREAS, the owners of the said property desire to make the said dedication on condition that the City of Des Plaines will not, for a period of five (5) years, cause condemnation proceedings to be instituted for the opening of either White Street or "Illinois street along the Fitt property described in the deed of dedication hereto' attached "and made part of this ordinance, and desire to make the said dedication on condition that the said Pitt property, portion of which is dedicated in the deed of dedication attached -hereto, be not assessed for any paving or condemnation proceedings for the opening or paving of o'hite Street or IllinoisStreet or for the openingofProspect Avenue to the jtiver 'cads WHEREAS, it is to the best interests of the City of Des Plaines that the said deed -of dedication be accepted subject to the said conditions. Alderman Suster moved that the matter of prodesting the roots of the large trees -on Graceland Ave. where the Telephone Company were doing under ground construction work be left with the Streets and Sidewalks Committee with power to act. Alderman Enzenbacher seconded this motion and the same carried by vote of acclamations Alderman Kinder moved that the Yinance Committee be instructed to get coats on files and equipment for the keeping of the canceled Municipal Bonds and Coupons. Alderman Schlagel seconded this motion and the same carried by vote of acclamation.
