Mayor Hamm rl called the:meeting .to 'order with Alderman Collet,

Ahbe, Heesch, Shster, Kinder," Schlagel, l acey, Wettin, and Knabb
answering to roll call. Alderman Enzenbacher being absent.
Alderman Ahbe moved that the minutes of the regular meeting held
May 19th 1930 be approved as written. Alderman Collet seconded this
motion and the same carriedby vote of acclamation.
The monthly report of the Police Department covering activities
.during the Month of May 1930 was read and ordered placed on file.
The Judiciary and Assessment Committee submitted the following
_Committee report:

May 24th, 1930
To the 1'1kayor and City Council:
Your Committee on Judiciary has investigated the
above and has founds, that.the Workrrrens' Compensation
Policy is in proper form and carries the indorsements
recommended by the Illinois Indestrial Commission, and.
that the rates are the same as quoted.heretofore.
We therefore recommend that the policy be approved
and accepted.

Alderman Ahbe moved that the report of the Committee be accepted
and the Compensation insurance Policy be approved. Alderman 'ettin
seconded this motion and the roll was called with the following re-
sult: Alderman (Ayes) Collet, Ahbe, Heesch, Suster, Kinder, Schlegel,
Lagey,,Wettin, and Knabb. None voting .Naye the Mayor declared the
motion carried and the policy approved.
The Chairman of the Police and License Committee reported that
it would be necessary for the Police; Departmentto purchase a, new
Automobile. After some discussion on the matter Aldernien1Kinder moved
that the Police Committee be authorized to take bids on a new car for
the dem rtment and submit recommendations at the next regular Council
meet}nor. Alderman Wettin seconded this motion and the roll was called
with the following result: (Ayes) Ahbe, Heesch, Suster, Kinder, Schlegel
Lacey, Wettin and Knabb. Alderman voting Naye was Collett Whereon
the Mayor declared the motion carried and instructed,the Committee to
obtain bids.
Alderman Enzenbacher arrived and took his seat at this time.
The Chariman of the Streets and•idewalks Committee reported
that the Engineer presented him with an estimate on the cast of install-
ing catch -basins on Miner Street and Jefferson Street to drain the low
spots in Miner Street. Alderman- Kinder moved that the Chairman of the
Streets Committee be instructed to take bids on this work and bring in
a recommendation to the next regular Council meeting. Alderman Ahbe
seconded this motion and the roll was called with the following result:
(Ayes) Alderman Collet, Abbe, Heesch, Buster, Kinder, Schlagel, Lacey,
Wettin, Knabb and Enzenbacher. None voting naye the Mayor declared the
motion carried.

The matter of allowing Mr. C. W. H. Brown to widen and pave
Pearson Street was discussed at this time. Following which Alder-
man Buster moved that the Chairman of Streets Committee instruct
Mr. Brown ghat provided he would "present a written application to do
this work under specifications and inspection of the City Engineer
the necessary permit would be granted. Alderman Collet seconded
this motion and the same carried by vote of acclamation.
The Public Work, -vire, City Plats Committee had no report to
make at this time. -
The Water and Water M4mns Committee had no report to make at
this time.
The Sewer Drainage and Sanitation Committee had no<r eport to
make at this time.
Alderman Knabb reported a section of broken curb on Campbell
Avenue and the matter was referred to the atreets and Sidewalks
Committee for consideration.
Alderman Kinder reported a duplication of street lights -at
Fourth Avenue and Thacker Street and requested that the Streets and
Sidewalks Cilmmittee investigate the condition there and recommend
the removal of unnecessary street lights and there replacement at
locations where additional lights was needed,
Alderman Kinder brought up the matter of the Five Dailar Permit
Fee for driveways. Alderman Lacey was try much opposed to this -per-
mit charge and stated in his estimation the City in making this charge
was hindering improvements. y'ollowing considerable discussion relative
to changing this permit fee Alderman i cey•moved that the City
Attorney be instructed to draft an ordinance changing the permit -
fee for driveways to One Dollar ($1.00) in place of Five Dollars
(5.00)j and prohibiting the use of any construction between the
Curb and sidewalk for driveway purposes except concrete. Alderman
Ahbe seconded this motion and the roll was called with the following
resuitt (Ayes) Alderman Collet, Ahbe, Heesch, Suster, Kinder, Schlegel
Lacey, Wettin; Knabb and Enzenbacher. None voting Naye the Mayor de-

The following ordinance was presented for first reading.
AN ORDINANCE
PROVIDING FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A
CONNECTED SYSTEM OF CAST IRON TATER
MAIN SUPPLY PIPES, IN DES PLAINES
AVENUE, IN THE CITY OF DES PLAINES,
COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS.
Alderman Heesch moved that the ordinance be passed as read, and the
recommendation of the Board of Local Improvement accompaning same be
accepted. Alderman Ahbe seconded this motion and the roll was called
with the following result; (Ayes) Aldermen Collet, Ahbe, Sustert Heesch,.
Kinder, Schlegel, Lacey, Wettin, Knabb and Enzenbacher. None voting
Naye the Mayor declared the motion ca±ried and the ordinance passed
• as read.

tip to them. to secure a• permit, but the man in charge
said he'didntt'now they needed one.
1- wo. Id not make this request if one pump was
not already in'operativn, because 1 believe the
addition'of another tank and pump will not change
appearanced to any degree.

P. S. I'might say further that it is merely the
transfering of equipment from one side of the
street ;to the other. had been purchasing
gasoline thru Purnell &•Wilson for several years,
when Mr. Wilson suggested we fizp coins to see
who would get both tanks -I won. It has taken
the past several weeks•(since the time the firm
of Purnell & Wilson removed their pump) to get
the Texas Co. to agree-, to transfer the equip-
. ment.
• Following considerable discussion Alderman Schlagel moved that the
request be placed on file. Alderman Knabb seconded this motion and

Following some disuuesion Alderman Heesch moved that the letter
be referred to the City Attorney and the matter of re -advertising
for bids for the Removal of the Buildings on the hllinwood Street
right-of-way be referred to the; Board of Local Improvements.
Alderman Collet seconded this motion and the same carried by vote
of acclamation.
The Chairman of the Finance Committee presented the follow-
ing resolution:

seconded this motion and the foil was called with the following result:

`gettin, Knabb and Enzenbacher. .one voting Naye the Mayor declared the
motion carried and the resolution adopted and directed that the proper
warrants be prepared.
There eing no further business to come before the Council on
motion of Alderman Kinder, seconded by Alderman Qollet same adjourned.
