05/05/1930• THE MINUTES OF THE RIULAR.MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DES PLAINES HELD IN THE. COUNCIL CHEERS ON THE 5th DAY ..OF MAY A. D. 1930 AT THE HOUR OF 8o' CLOCK P. M. • Mayer Hammerl called the meeting to order with Alderman • Collet, Ahbe, Heesch, 5uster, Kinder, 4chlagel, Schroeder, Laceys • Knabb and Enzenbacher answering to roll call. - Alderman Collet moved that the -minutes of the regular - meeting held April 21st,1930 and -those of the adjourned meet- • ing•held April 28th,1930 be approved as written. Alderman Knabb • seconded this motion and the same carried by vote of acclamation. • A. report of the Police Department covering activities of ▪ the month of April 1930 was read and ordered placed on file. A. report of the City Collector covering collections to May 5th,1930 was read and referred to the Finance Committee. The Judiciary and Assessments Committee had no report to make at this time. • The Streets and Sidewillks .Committee had no report to make at this time. The Police and License at this time. The Public Works, Fire had no report to make at this Committee had no report to make Buil4ing, and City Plats Committee time. The Sewer, Drainage.and Sanitation Committee had no re- port to make at this time. The Water and Water Mains Committee had no report to make at this time. Mayor Hammed called the meeting of the City Council to order with Alderman Collet, Ahbe, H eeech, Suster, Kinder, Schlagel, Lacey, Wettin, Knabb and Enzenbacher answering to roll call. The following letter was presented to the Qity Council and referred to the Police and License gommittee. April 30th,1930 To the Honorable Mayor and City Council of the City of Des Plaines. ` Gentlemen: - The Des Plaines Grammar School Board of Education has decided to let James Carroll do the truant work for the Des Plaines School .System for the coming year and therefore re- commends that you appoint James Carroll as Truant Officer. RESOLUTION WHEREAS, the City Council of Des Plaines located in the County of Cask, State of Il1$ois, wishes to Construct a Portland Cement Concrete Sidewalk along the east and west side of Mannheim Road, Route 46 which by law comes under the jurisdiction and con- trol of the Department of Public Works and Buildings of the State of Illinois, and WHEREAS, a permit from said Department is zequired before said work can be legally undertaken by.said city,now THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of Des Plaines, County of Cook,State of Illinois, Firsts That we de hereby request from the Department of Public Works and Buildings, State of Illinois, a permit authorizing the city to proceed with the work herein described. Seconds That we hereby pledge the good faith of the city and guarantee that all work shall be performed in accordance with the conditions of the permit to be granted by the Department of Public Works and Buildings -of the Otate of Illinois and to hold the State of Illinois, Department of Public Works and :Buildings, harmless on account of any damages that may occur to persons or property during the prosecution of such work, and assume all liability for damages' to persons or property due to accidents or otherwise by reason of the work which is to be performed under the provisions of said permit. Thirds That we hereby state that the proposed work is, to be performed by the employees of the city, Fourth: That the proper officers of the city ow -are hereby instructed and authorized to sign said permit in behalf of the City. Alderman Knabb, moved that the resolution be adopted, Alderman Collet secondi4 this motion and the same carried by vote of -acclamation. The following ordinance was presented for first reading: AN ORDINANCE CREATING A BOARD OF LOCAL IMPROVEMENTS FOR THE CITY OF DES PLAINES, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS, AND DESIGNAT.- DIG THE MEMBERS THEREOF. Alderman Enzenbacher moved that the rules of the City Council be suspended and the Ordinance be put on for passage on first reading. Alderman Buster seconded this motion, and the roll was called with the following result. Ayes, Alderman Collet, Male, Heesch, Buster, Ainder, Schlegel, Lacey, Wettin, Knabb and Enzenbacher. Whereon the Mayor ddclared the motion carried and the Ordinance before the Council for passage. Alderman Knabb moved that the Ordinance be passed as read. Alderman Collet seconded this motion and the roll was called with the following result: Ayes Alderman Collet, Ahbe, Heesch, Buster, Kinder, Schlage, Lacey, Wettin, Kanbb, and Enzenbacher. TO THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY «P DES PLAINES: The Board of Local Improve ents of the City of Des Plaines reapectfull44commendg to the City Council of the City of JJs Plaines that the said City Council pass the ortinance attached hereto provideing for the sale to Milbourne Brothers of bonds in the total sum of Thirty Thousand Dollars ($30,000.oc) for the payment of awards for the property taken or damaged by the opening of Ellinwood Street, No. 62694 in the County Court of Cook County. RECOENDATI0N BY THE BOARD OF LOCAL IMPROVEMENTS OF THE CITY OF DES PLAINES TO THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DES PLAINES TO THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DES PLAINES: The Board of Local improvements of the City of Des Plaines respectfully recommends to the City Council of the-tity of Des Plaines that the said City Council pass the ordinance attached hereto, providing for the sale and acceptance of bids -on• the Des Plaines Lumber and Coal Company brick building located on the pro- perty condemned for the opening of Ellinwood Street, in the City of Des Plaines, County Court No. 62694. The following ordinance was pass presented to the City Council for first reading: AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE VACATION OF A CERTAIN ALLEY AS HERETOFORE DEDICATED IN THE CITY OF DES PLAINES, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS. Alderman Collet moved tha t the rules of the City Council be suspended and the Ordinance be put on fer passage on first reading.
