Mayor Hatnmerl called the meeting to order with Aldermen
Collet, Abbe, Heeaeh, Sumter, Kinder, Schlagel, Schroeder,
Lacey, Knabb and Enzenbacher anvlrering to roll call.
Second reading of '
AN ORDINANCE
APPOINTING THE JUDGES AND CLERKS OF TIIIIANNEAL
CITY ELECTION TO BE HELD APRIL 15,1930 IN THS
CITY OF DES PLAINES, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS.
Alderman Knabb moved that the ordinance be passed as read.
Alderman Collet seconded this motion and the roll was called
with the following result: (Ayes) Aldermen Collet, Ahbe,
Heeach, Suster, Kinder, Schlagel, Schroeder, Lacey, Knabb,
and Enzenbacher. None voting Kaye the Mayor declared the
motion carried and the ordinance passed as'read.
Second reading of:
AN ORD INANCE
MAKING APPROPRIATIONS TO DEFRAY THE EXPENSES
OF THE CITY OF DES PLAINES FOR. MUNICIPAL PUR-
POSES, DESIGNATED THE *ANNUAL APPROPRIATION
BILL*, FOR THE FISCAL YEAR COMMENCING JANU-
ARY 1, 1930 AND ENDING DECEMBER 31,E 1930.
Alderman Enzenbacher moved that the ordinance be passed as
read. Alderman Ahbe seconded this motion and considerable
discussion followed. Alderman Kinder stated he has requested
the Engineer to estimate the cost of an ornamental lighting
system in Des Plaines Manor Tract #1. The Engineers estimate
for lighting 66 posts in this subdivision would cost approxi-
mately One Thousand Four Hundred and Fifty Dollars ($1450.00)
per year. Attorney Maloney stated there was sufficient moneys
in the appropriation ordinance to cover this cost provided
the system was installed. Following the discussion the roll
was called with the following result. (Ayes) Aldermen Collet,
Ahbe, Heesch, Suster, Schlagel, Schroeder, Lacey, Kanbb, and
Enzenbacher. (Nayes) Alderman Kinder. Whereon the Mayor
declared the motion carried and the ordinance passed as read.
Alderman Schlagel moved that the ordinance be published
in the next issue of the Suburban Times. Alderman Schroeder
seconded this motion and the roll was called with the follow-
ing result: (Ayes) Aldermen Collet, Ahbe, Heeach, Suster,
Kinder, Schlagel, Schroeder, Lacey, Knabb, and Enzenbacher.
Whereon the Mayor declared the motion carried.
The following.letter was read at this time, and referred
th the Police and License Committee for their recommendation.

for a Taxi Stand, from which I wish to operate Two (2)
Taxi Cabs.

Alderman Kinder Stated that Mr. Joseph Rane who had ob-
tained building permits No. 354,, 355, 356 in December 1929 had
seen him with regard to a Contractors License for the aheet metal
contractor who was doing the work under these three permits. He
stated at thee time the permits were issued no contractors license
had been required, and that it would be almost impossible for the
Contractor to figure a profit on these small jobs sufficient to
pay the libense fee. After considerable discussion Alderman Ahbe
movecrthat the Sheet Metal Contractors license be waved on this
work provided however that all otheroontractora be required to
obtain contractors license before proceeding under these permits.
Alderman Suster Seconded this motion and the roll was called with
the following result; *Ayes) Aldermen Collet, Ahbe, Heesch, Suster,
Kinder, Schlagel, Schroeder, Lacey, Knabb, and. Enzenbacher.
Thereon the Mayor declared the motion carried.
There being no further business to came before the Council
on motion of Alderman Knabh, seconded by Alderman Schlagel, and
unanimously carried same adjourned.
