Mayor Hazmnerl called tne meeting to order with Alderman Collet, Ahbe, Heesch, Suster, Kinder, Scnlagel, Anabb and Enzenbanner answering to roll call. Alderman Schroeder and Alderman Lacey being absent. Mayor Hammerl explained that this was an adjourned meet- ing of the City Council being held for tne purpose of considering the passage of an ordinance submiting to tne voters a proposition for the maintenance of a paid fire department, and such. other business that might come before the Council at this time. First reading of Ah ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE SUBMISSION TO THE VOTER OF THE CITY OF DES PLAINES OF THE QUESTIOh OF THE ADOP- TION OF AN ACT OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, ENTITLED AN ACT PERMITTING CITIES AND VILLAGES CONTAINING LESS Tam- 500,000 INHABITANTS, TO .LEVY A TAX FOR FIRE PROTECTION*, AT THE REGULAR ANNUAL RuICTION LN AND FOR SAID CITY OF DES PLAINES, COOK COUhTY, ILLINOIS, ON THE lbth DAY OF APRIL, 1960. Alderman Knabb moved that the ordinance be put on for passage. Alderman Collet seconded this motion and tne roll was called with the folldwing result. Wes) Aldermen Collet, Anbe, heesch, Suster, Kinder, Sdhlagel, Knabb, and snzenbacher. hone voting Naye the Mayor declared the motion carried, and the ordinance before the Council for passage. Alderman Knabb moved that the ordinance be passed as read. Alderman Collet seconded this motion and the roll was called with the following result; (Ayes) Aldermen Collet, Ahbe, Heesch, Suster, Kinder, 4chIagel, Knabb, and Snzenbacher. Bone voting Naye the Mayor declared the motion carried and the ordin- ance passed as read. Alderman Knabb stated that an Alderman from the City /of Park Ridge had inquired of him if it would be possibe for the City of Park Eidge to borrow the Sewer cleaning machinery owned by the City of Des Plaines. After a short discussion the City Clerk was directed to write the Chairman of the Sewer and Dram - age Committee of the City of Park Ridge informing him that he \ was welcome to use such machinery as we had without charge what \so ever. There being no further business to come before the Council at this time, on motion of Alderman Knabb, seconded by Alderman Buster same adjourned; to meet again in an adjourned meeting to be held Monday evening march lOth,1930 at the hour of 9 o'clock P.
