Mayor HaMmeri called the meeting to order with Alderman
Ahbe, Heesch, Suster, Schlagei, Lacey Schroeder, Xnage and
Enmenbacher answering to roll call. Alderman Kinder being absent.
Alderman Schlagel moved that the minutes of the regular metting
held November 4th 1929 be approved as written. Alderman Knabb secon-
ded this motion and the same carried by vote of acclamation.
The Judiciary and. Assessments'Cmmittee had nO report to make
at tMsttrne.
Alderman Schroeder as chairman of the Public Works, Sire,
Building and. City Plats presented a pat of dedication for Public
Highway purposes of a piece on Seegers Road. After a thorough in-
vestigation of the Plat Alderman Schroeder moved that same be #4.
proved and that the Mayor and City Clerk be directed to sign same
in the name of- the City of Des Plaines. Alderman Schlegel seconded
this motion and the ri.1 was called with the following result& (Ayes)
Aldermen Collet, Ahbe, Heesch, Suster, Sch4agel, Lacey, Schroeder,
Knabb and:Enzenbacher. Nonevneting (Nay) the Mayor declared the
motion citried and directed that the Plat -he approved.
Alderman AChlagel at this time requested a meeting of the
-members of the Council as a committee of the whole immdiately full -
Wiring the regular meeting. The purpose of this committee meeting
being to discus* the matter of a settlement with Mr. quilic.
Aiderman-Schroeder brought up the matter of a localation of
the Shell Oil Co. on North Avenue. After a considerable discussion
on the question the matter was refered to the committee on City Plats
for a further report.
Alderman Knabb reported that the Margaret Street sneer seemed
to be overloaded during a period of heavy rain. Etginer Jenkins was
of the oppion that realf could be obtained by connecting to the sever
at Algonquin Road and the matter, was refered to him.tor a report at
the next meeting.
Alderman Enzenbacher brought up the matter of dumping at the-,
Incinator and instructed the Clerk to charge $1.00 per load for each
permit issued for this purpose. Alderman Suster also raised the ques-
tion of providing fill for Prairie Avenue between Pearson Street and
Des Plaines Avenue. The question ofa charge for board on dogs held at
the Nunicipai Pond vas dicussed this time. Alderman Enznbacher moved
that a charged of $1.00 per day be established and that no dogs te rea-
leased to owners without them presenting a receipt to the Enginer in
charge of the Incinerator. Alderman Suster seconded tnis motion and
the same carried 4 rote of acclamation.
Alderman Enzenbacher raised a quextion as to the rates Charged
water consumers outside the City limixts. After a short discussion of
this matter it was refered to the *aer Committee for a report at a
later date.
Engineer Jenkins reported that there would be a meeting of the
City Officials and the Trustees of the Waller Creek Drainage:district
at Mr. Maloney's Office Friday afternoon November 22nd at 2 O'Clock.
Mayor Hammerl selected Aldermen Heesch, Suster, Collet, Ahbe, Enzen-
bacher and City Clerk MerriI1 as a Committee to attend this meeting.
The question of tne placing of Stop Signs by the Chicago
Motor Club.was refered to the Police Committee. The Signs in ques-
tion being =Prairie Avenue and Woodlawn Avenue.,
Alderman Enzenbacher moved that City Clerk. be instructed
to write the Mellott Wholesale Grocery Co. of Forest Park an& inform
them that if they did not pay for the damage done to the side walk
on Park Avenme that tae P*Iice.Department would be instructed to
arrest their driver on his next appreaance in Des Plaines and hold him
for $20.00 oath bond. Alderman Collet seconded this motion and the
same carried by vote of acclamation.
Alderman Schroeder raised the question of turning on Street
Light in Cherry Highlands. The Clerk informed the Council that the
matter had oeen left with Kr. Hammerl of the Loeb and Hammel Co. and
that tae matter would be teidliiidkre of as soon as the Company decieded
on the number of lights needed.
Second reading of:
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 615
OF ARTICLE 2 OF CHAPTER 17 OF THE
MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF DES
PLAINES BY REVISING THE SAME.
Alderman Schlegel moved that Ordinanoi be peaked as read. Alderman
Collet seconded this motion and the lbil was called with the follow-
ing result: *Ayes" Aldermen Collet, Ahbe, Hoesch, Suster, Schlegel,
Schroeder, Knab-b and Enzenbacher. Alderman Lacey voting *Nay* whereon
the Mayor declared the motion carried and Ordinance passed as read.
Alderman Enzenbacher moved that the Ordinance be published
in the next issue of the Suburban Times according to Law. Alderman
Knabb seconded this motion and the roll was called with'the following
resuitt *Ayes" Aldermen Collet, Ahbe, heesch, Suster, Schlegel,
Schroeder,Kbb and Enzenbacher. Alderman Lacey voting *Nay° whereon
the Mayor declared the motion carried and derected that the Ordinance
be published in the next issue of the Suburban Times.
Alderman Schlegel moved that attorney be instructed to draft
a resultion giving the Chief of Police power to inspect and check the
Taxie Cab Meters at least once in three months. Alderman Suster second-
ed this motion and same carried by vote of acclamation.
Second reading of:

PLAINES, TO JOHN LACE.
Alderman Khabb moved that the Ordianance be passed as read. Alderman
Schroeder sedonded this motion and the roil was called with the foll-
owing result: *Ayes* Collet Ahbe, HeeSch, Suster, Schlegel, Lacey,
Schroeder, iinabb and Enzenbaeher. None Voting *Nay* thellayor decla-
red the motion carried and the Ordianance passed as read.

Alderman Collet Moved that the ordinance be passed as read. Alderman
Enzenbacher seconded this motion and the roll was called witn_the
following result. 'Ayes * klderman Collet, Ahbe, Heesch, Suster, Sch-
lagel, Lacey, Schroeder, Znabb and Enzenbacher. None Voting *Nays
the Mayor declared the motion carried and the ordinance passed as_
read.
Alderman Schlagel moved that the ordinance be published
in the next -issue of the SubUrban Times. Alderman Collet seconded
this Motion and the roil was called.witn the following result. "Ayes'

our priveldge, we urgently request that you consult with
the proper Council body and have all Fire Plugs tested, and
the defective ones repaired, should there be any, as quickly
as is convenient.

Alderman Enzenbacner moved that tne Superindent of Public Works be
instructed to test and inspect all Fire Plugs and repair such one's
as Illere not in good working condition. Alderman Xnabb seconded this
motion and the same carried by vote of acciamation.

A letter from the Illinois Commerce Commission In the matter
of application of the Chicago lidrth Shore & Milwaukee R. R. Co. for
a cert. of con. and nec. to operate motor vehicles for the carriage
of passengers and baggage from the city of Evanston through Niles
Center and to and into Des Plaines, all in the State of Ills Known as
case Number 14097 was read and refered to the City Attorney with instru-
ctions to represent the City in this case providing it was necessary.
A letter from the Illinois Commerce Commission in the matter
of Chicago,& North Western Ry. Co. -vs- Dept. of Public Works and
Bldgs., Division of 'Highways, et al. Petition for permission to cross
highway at grade at Wilke Road, Rohiwing Road, etc. Known as case No.
19538 was read and refered to the City Attorney witii instructions to
represent the City in this case providing it was necessary.
Alderman Heesch moved that *300.00 be transfered from the
trudiciary and Assessment fund to the Streets and Sidewalks fiends for
the purpose of paying salerys for labor. Alderman Schlagel seconded
this motion and the roll was called with the foliowing result. "Ayes"
Aldermen Collet, Abhe, Heesch,Suster, Schlagel, Lacey, Schroeder,
Knabb and Enzenbacher. None voting *Nay" the Mayor declared the motion
carried and directed that the transfer be made.
The Finance Committee su.mitted the foliowing report.
RESOLVED THAT THE FOLLOWING BILLS ARE
DUE AND PAYABLE AND THAT THE MAYOR AND

Alderman Schlagel moved that the resultion be-ANNSIPPed. Alderman seconded
this motion and the roil was called with the following result. "Ayes"
Aldermen Collet, Ahbe, Heesch, Suster, Schlagei, Lacey, Schroeder, Kaaba
and Enzenbacher. None voting "Nay" the Mayor declared the motion carried
and the resultion adopPed and further directed that warants be issued
drown against the proper accounts.
The question of paying street lighting bills came up for discus -
and Alderman Heesch instructed the City Cleric to inform the Public
ervice Co. that some of these bills could Qlow doubt be taken care of
by December Ibth. he further instructed the Clerk to inform the Company
that it was doubtfull when the street lights in the numerous subdivisions
could be taken care of.
There being no further business to come before the City
Council at. this time on motion duly made, seconded and carried the
meeting ad .aurned.
