The Clerk
First reading of ordinance on Van Buren and Jeannette Sts. paving.
read for first reading the following proposed ordinance entitled:
AN ORDINANCE FOR TET, CONSTRUCTION OF A HARD SURFACED
ASPHALT STREET ON VAN BUREN STREET AND JEANNETTE AVENUE
IN DES PLAINES, ILLINOIS, INCLUDING CONCRETE CURBING,
GUTTERS AND NECESSARY APPURTENANCES THERETO.
The Mayor ordered the ordinance placed on file for second reading.
The Clerk read a letter from Superintendent Smaage of the Public Schools
requesting a patrolman on Rand Road. The Mayor informed the Council this was
outside the city Limits but refered the letter to the Streets and Public Protection
C oanmittee s .
The Clerk read a letter received from James A. Rujek, Civilian Liaison
Representative, W. S. Signal Corps. 5th Army regarding the Fowl Ordinance
including homing pidgeons. The Mayor refered the letter to the License Committee.
Alderman Davis read a letter about mosquito abatement.
Alderman Auck reported that Alderman Davis was preparing the memorial
plague.
The City Clerk reported he had received a report for the pet three
months from Lillian Mae Leish, R.N., Commnity Nurse.
The Mayor said the Clerk would have the report on file if any Alderman
desired to read same.
Adjournment. The motion was made by Alderman Schallawitz and seconded
by Hansen to adjourn the meeting to Monday November 24, at 8:00 P.M. The
motion was voted upon by acclamation hereupon the Payor declared the meeting
adjourned until Monday November 24, 1952, at 8:00 P.M.

IN THE COUNCIL CHAFERS, MONDAY, NOVEMBER
24, 1952, at 8:00 P. M.
CALL TO ORDER. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Kenneth
G. Meyer who presided with Alderman Hansen, Wolf, Tures, Behrel, McKay, and
Auck responding to roll call.

following result: Ayes: Alderman Wolf, McKay. Nays:
Tures, Lehrel, and Auck. The Mayor thereupon declared the znotioa lost.
Adopt resolution on O'Hare airfield. The Mayor presented a proposed
resolution which was received from the Chicago Plan Commission regarding O'Hare
Field. On motion by Alderman Hansen & seconded by Behrel the resolution
was adopted.
Adjournment. The motion was made by Alderman Behrel and seconded
by Auck to adjourn. The motion was voted upon by acclamation, whereupon the
Mayor declared the motion carried.
