1117195211/3/52 Mayor Meyer reported on a letter he received from the Committers Ass'h. of Chicago regarding their opposing the increase of railroad flares. The City of Park Ridge contributed $250.00 and the Association desired Des Plaines to contribute. The Mayor thought it may be illegal for the City to contribute and thought the people interested should organize to get funds. He requested the local papers to give publicity to same. Motion to Adjourn. The motion was made by Alderman Morava and seconded by Davis to adjourn to Monday November 10, 1952, at 8:00 P.M.- The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon the Mayor declared the motion carried and the meeting` adjourned to Monday November 10, 1952. Approval of Minutes. The motion was made by Alderman Hansen and seconded Morava to approve the minutes of the adjourned meeting October 16 and 27, 1952 and the regular meeting of November 3, 1952. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon the Mayor declared the motion carried. Reports of Officials. The Clerk submitted the report of City Treasurer for October, 1952. Approval of bills. Alderman McKay Chairman of the Finance Committee presented the following proposed resolution: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DES PLAINES THAT THE FOLLOWING BTLLS ARE DUE AND PAYABLE AND THAT THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK BE AND ARE HEREBY AUTHORIZED TO MAKE PAYMENT FOR SAME. (gehedule of bills place before each Alderman and affixed to the resolution and on file with Cith Clerk.) Alderman Behrel reported that the Steinfeldt annexation petition had been withdrawn so the Municipal Development Committee has taken no action. Alderman Behrel reported regarding a County Zoning hearing November 21, 1952, on property on Mannheim Rd. near Pratt Avenge. Alderman Hansen reported on the five year plan for use of Motor Fuel Tax. Alderman Behrel reported about a petition from residents west of Mt. Prospect Rd. on Algonquin Road regarding fire protection. The Mayor refered the petition to the Public Protection Committee. On request of Alderman Behrel the Mayor refered to the City Attorney the drafting of amendments to the ordinance on Policeman and Firemen personal. Alderman Au4 reported on the Sanitary District Sewer Ordinance. The Mayor requested the City Engineer and City Attorney to contact the District Engineer. J. P. Tuthill, Highway District Engineer Letter. The Clerk read the following letter: November 13, 1952 Mr. Otto W. J. Henrich City Clerk City Hall Des Plaines, Illinois. - Dear Mr. Henrich: This is in reply to your letter of August 19, 1952, in which you requested this Department to reroute trucks from Algonquin Road (Illinois 62) through, the residential section of your City. Our reply has been delayed until a thorough review was made of previous correspondence of this subject. You are aware of this Department's attitude on removing Illinois 62 marking from Algonquin Road. I refer you to Mr. C. H. Apple's letter of October 30, 1947 and Governor Green's letter of June 1, 1948. Regarding the possibility of rerouting trucks from this highway, the Division of Motor Carriers has issued certificates to those truck operators subject to such controls defining the routes over which they may -4travel under under their individual certificates. The Mayor ordered the ordinance placed on file for second reading. The Clerk read a letter from Superintendent Smaage of. the Public Schools requesting a patrolman on Rand Road. The Mayor informed the Council this was outside the city Limits but refered the letter to the Streets and Public Protection Committees. The Clerk read a letter received from James A. Rujek, Civilian Liaison RepresentativeW. S. Signal Corps. 5th Army regarding the Foal Ordinance including homing pidgeons. The Mayor refered the letter to the License Committee. Alderman Davis read a letter about mosquito abatement. Alderman Auck reported that Alderman Davis was preparing the memorial plague.
