De also suggest that Arlington Avenue from Prairie Avenue to Laurelbe included in the same ordinance and signs be posted. No.3. The Commission feels that Lee Street from Prairie Avenue to Thacker Street, and Graceland Avenue from Marion to Thacker Street are sufficiently wide enough to warrant parking; and we suggest that no changes be made until parking lots are placed in operation, after which time another survey could be made. No. 4. We do not feel that any change need be made on Miner Street in the Rand Park area. From our observation there has not been sufficient congestion to warrant any restrictions. No.5. In accordance with suggestion by the Fire Department, because they are using it as an auxiliary route to Mannheim Road, we suggest parking on one side of the.treet on Graceland avenue from, Thacker to Oakwood, and on First Avenue from Oakwood to Mannheim (or Lee Street) and that the west side of these streets have posted, "No Parking, Fire Lane". No.6. We suggest that the City Council consult with the State Highway Engineers relative to traffic control at Graceland Avenue and Rand Road, which we consider one of the most dangerous intersections in the City. No.7. We suggest the removal of one parking space on the west side of Lee Street south of Ellinwood Street; for we find that it is too close to the corner, and when an occupant of that space reverses his vehicle, we fired that he backs into the flow of pedestrian traffic at the crosswalk which we consider dangerous. July 17, 1952 City Counsel, Des Plaines, Illinois Gentlemen: Our firm, Johnson Trailer Boat Company, has recently opened operations at our new factory located at Rand and River Roads in your city. We are manufacturers of various types of boats equipped with wheels and hitches for easy conveyance. We would like to contribute to the welfare of our community by donating to the City of Des Plaines one of our models known as the "Trail -A -Boat". This particular boat is equipped with trailer hitch and wheels which eliminates the necessity of any additional equipment to transport boat. Within a matter of seconds, this boat can be hitched to any type of vehicle and delivered to its destination without any inconvenience or time loss. This feature makes the boat valuable as a life-saving device for a city sited on a river as is Des Plaines. Should there be a mishap on the river, this "Trail -A -Boat" could be sped to the scene of disaster and immediately be ready for use as a rescue boat. Since our plant is located in Des Plaines, we would like to see Des Plaines be the first city in the country to have this boat as a life-saving device. If the "Trail -A -Boat is accepted by the City; we think the appropriate time for presentation would be during Des Plainea Frontier Days Celebration.
