CITY COUNCIL, DES PLAIN'S, ILLINOIS HELD

Call to Order The meeting was called to order by City Clerk ,
Otto W. J. Henrich, and adjourned the meeting to Monday July 14, 1952,
at 8:00 P.M. due to no gnrLmm.

CITY COUNCIL, DES PLAINES, ILLINOIS, HELD
IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS MONDAY JULY 14, 1952,
at 8sOO P. M. _
Call to Order The meeting was called to order by Mayor Kenneth
G. Meyer who presided with Alderman Hansen, Davis, Wolf, Tures, Behrel,
Schallawitz, McKay, Clement, Morata, and Auck responding to roll call.
Approval of minutes. The motion was made by Alderman Clement
and seconded by Auck to approve the minutes of the regular meeting
June 16, 1952, and the Special meeting June 23, 1952. Alderman Clement
reported errors in terms of Spaegler and Carroll. Attorney M. S. Howard
requested to change the motion on Parking Revenue Bond Ordinance to
"place the proposed ordinance ofi passage." The motion was voted upon
by acclamation whereupon the Mayor declared the motion carried and the
minutes approved as corrected.
Traffic Commission Reports: The Clerk read a letter from
Traffic Commissioner recommending that the City -Council ask the State
to widen Algonquin Road from Des Plaines Avenue to Mount Prospect Rd.
The Mayor informed the Council Engineer Fletcher has contacted the
State regarding same.
The Clerk read a letter from Traffic Commissioner suggesting
a few "Slow Children Playing" signs be placed on Greenview Avenue between
Second and Fifth which were requested by residents. The Superintendent
was instructed to place the signs.
First reading of Ordinance parking on City Hall property.
The Clerk read for first reading the following proposed ordinance
entitled:
AN ORDINANCE TO REGULATE PARKING ON CITY HALL PROPERTY.
The Mayor ordered the proposed ordinance placed on file for second reading.
First reading of Ordinance posting bills on posts The Clerk
read for first reading the following proposed ordinance entitled:
AN ORDINANCE TO AMENT SECTION 1250 OF CHAPTER 29 OF THE
REVISED ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF DES PLAINES, 1928, AS AMENDED,
RELATING TO THE POSTING OF BILLS.
The Mayor ordered the proposed ordinance placed on file for second reading.
First Reading of Ordinance of sprinkling. The Clerk read for
first reading the following proposed ordinance entitled:
AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 1287 OF CHAPTER 30 OF THE
CITY CODE OF DES PLINES, AS AMENDED, REGARDING YARD
FOUNTAINS AND SPRINKLING.
The Mayor refered the proposed ordinance to the Water Committee.
Nebel Trailor camp. The Clerk read a letter from Superintendent
Wernicke reporting 108 trailors at the Nebel Trailor Camp. The Clerk
was instructed to bill for same.
Alderman Clement reported on the meeting of July 7 regarding
the public hearing on Garland property zoning and said that Mrs. Garland's
attorney Mr. Stoeffels was present to discuss the matter with the Council.
Alderman Davis made the minotity report for reaming and Alderman Hansen
spoke against. After Mr. Stoeffels spoke it was approved to hold the
committe report until next meeting on motion by Alderman Clement and
second by Wolf.
