May 12, 1952 Gentlemen: At a special meeting of the directors of the Des Plaines Chamber of Commerce held at noon today with the Mayor as our guest, the following resolution was passed with t he stipulation that it be spread on our minutes and a copy sent to your body for studyl The Chamber of Commerce recommends to our city council and plan commission that the ultimate goal insofar as our city limits is concerned be established as follows: Mt. Prospect Road on the west; Central Road on the north; Potter road south to Northwestern railroad tracks and then west to the present city limits and south along the Des vlaines River to Higgins Road; Higgins Road as the southernmost most boundary. We further recommend that subdivisions within this boundary be encouraged to annexation, realizing that there will be engineering problems such as streets, sewers and sidewalks, etc. Our feeling is that the advantages of this future planning will far offset the disavantages you will encounter in this annexation program. Our chamber of Commerce has appointed Walter Whitson as chairman of a committee which will meet with your body and the Plan Cciasion to further study this program. TRAFFIC COMMISSION REPORTS. The Clerk read toe following two reports: May 31, 1952 Mr. Otto W, J. Henrich City Clerk Municipal Building Des Plaines, Illinois Dear Sirs We wish to report as follows on the Committee Report you sent us dated may 5t First, that the request of the Kenny Shade Company asking for two— hour parking on Northwest Highway west of Golf Road to Cosrnell's Real Estate Office was considered premature, and suggest that this request could be reconsidered if and when parking conditions warrant it. In regard to the request of the Des Plaines Loan Association for parking meters on Prairie Avenue east of Pearson Street, in our opinion this: request is not justified; and secondly, this area was set aside to provide for those who required all day parking. We also suggest that a request be made of the State of Illinois Highway Department to place four—way stop signs immediately and suggest that stop and go lights be added later at the intersection of Des Plaines Avenue and Oakton Street. Respectfully yours, DES PLAINES TRAFFIC COMMISSION By V.L. Spiegler, Secretary VLS:sj May 27, 1952 Mr. Otto W. J. Henrich City Clerk City of Des Plaines, #llinois Dear Mr. Henrich: We wish to report the receipt of a letter from J. P.
