04141952117 BADMANII. mar AND COMPANY AWARDED CITY AUDIT. Alderman McKay reported about the City Audit. Ou motion by Alderman McKay and second by Alderman Dat#s, the audit of the City Accounts was awarded to Baumann, Finney and Co., not to exceed $2,800.00. APPROVAL OF BILLS. Alderman McKay, Chairman of the Finance Committee, presented the following proposed resolution: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DES PLAINES, THAT THE FOLLOWING BILLS ARE DUE AND PAYABLE AND THAT THE MAYOR AND GIT! CLERK BE AND ARE HEREBY AUTHORIZED TO MAKE PAYMENT FOR SAME. (Schedule of bills placed before each Alderman and affixed to resolution and on file with the City Clerk). The motion was made it Alderman McKay and seconded by Alderman Tures to adopt the proposed resolution. The Mayor put the question and the Clerk called the roll with the following result: Ayes: Aldermen Hansen, Davis, Wolf, Tures, Behrel, Schallawitz, McKay, Clement and Morava. Nays: None. The Magor thereupon declared the motion carried. On motion by Alderman Hansen and second by Alderman Behrel, the item of estimates and advertisement to purohase a bull -dozer with bids tobe in by the April 21, 1952, Council meeting, was referred to Supt. Warnicke and Engineer Fletcher. Mr. Vana of Oakton Gardens was granted permission to talk on the annexation which had been referred to the Plan Commission, December 17, 1951. Mr Vana was asked to notify the people of that subdivision that the Council would take action on the ordinance at the Monday, April 14, 1952, adjourned meeting. The Mayor referred the matter of the Hines Lumber Company to the Municipal Development Committee. Alderman Davis reported on the request for Manilow Construction Compamy signs. The Mayor referred the permits back to the Building Permit and Municipal Development Committee. ADJOURNMENT. The motion was made by Alderman Morava and seconded by Alderman Tures to adjourn to Monday, April 14, 1952, at 8:00 P.M. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Kenneth G. Meyer, who presided with Aldermen Hansen, Davis, Wolf, Tures, Schallawitz, McKay, Clement, and Amok responding to roll call. FIRST READING REZONING ORDINANCE LOT 17. GARLAND DIVISION. The Mork read for first reading the following proposed ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DES PLAINES, ILLINOIS The Mayor ordered the proposed ordinance placed on file for second reading. 7.s SASS REZONING ORDINANCE ON SLIVER SALINGER AND COMPANY'S SUBDIVISION. The Clerk read for the first reading.the following proposed ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DES PLAINES, ILLINOIS The motion was made by Alderman Davis and seconded by Alderman Hansen to suspend the rules and place the proposed ordinance on passage. The Mayor put the question and the Clerk called the roll with the following result: Ayes: Aldermen Hansen, Davis, Wolf, Tures, Schallawitz, McKay, Clement and Auck. Nays: None. The Mayor thereupon declared the motion was made by Alderman Hansen and seconded by Alderman luck to pass the proposed ordinance. The Mayor put the question and the Clerk called the roll with the following result: 488: Aldermen Hansen, Davis, Wolf, Tures, Schallawitz, McKay, Clement, and Auck. N�grs: None. The Mayor thereupon declared the motion carried. SECOND READING OF CAKTON GARDENS ANNEXATION ORDINANCE. The Clerk read for the second reading the following proposed ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING CERTAIN TERRITORY COMMONLY KNOWN AS CAKTON GARDENS AND DEXTER ACRES TO THE CITY OF DES PLAINESS The motion was made by Alderman McKay and seconded by Alderman Hansen to pass the proposed ordinance. Alderman Morava made his appearance at this time. Property owners who were for and against the annexation were allowed to speak. Mr. 11. Plew, member of the Plan Commission spoke in favor of the annexation. The Mayor also told the Council he thought it was for the best interests of the City to annex the section. After the Aldermen discussed the annexation, on motion by Alderman McKay and second by Alderman Hansen, the ordinance was referred to the Municipal Development Committee for recommendation. HARRY REEVES APPOINTED TO THE PLAN COMMISSION. On motion by Alderman Hansen and second by Alderman Davis, the error's appointment to the Plan Commission was approved. VACATE ALLEYS IN OLIVER SALINGER AND COMPANY'S SUBDIVISION. Alderman Clement, Chairman of the Municipal Development Committee, recommended to vacate the alleys in the rear of Lots 1 to 10 inclusive, in Blocks 12 and 13, and the alley in rear of Lots 1 to 11, inclusive, in Block 10, all in Oliver Salinger and Company's Touhy Avenue Subdivision, provided the fees be paid for all lots, the City Attorney to prepare an ordinance. On motion by Alderman Clement and second by Alderman McKay the report was concurred in. The Mayor appointed Aldermen Wolf, Clement and Behrel as a committee to confer with the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars regarding the discontinuing of flying the flag at half-mast for war veterans. Alderman Davis reported on the Manilow Construction Company signs. The motion was made by Alderman Davis and seconded by Alderman McKay that the Manilow Construction Company be permitted to erect the four signs accord- ing to ordinance not over eighty square feet. The motion was voted uphn by acclamation, whereupon the Mayor declared the motion carried. ROTHERY BUILDING PERMIT. On motion by Alderman Davis and second by Alderman Schallawitz, Mr. Rothery must comply with the building code and install additional window space. ADJOURN. The motion was made by Alderman Davis and seconded by Alderman Morava to adjourn. The motion was voted upon by acclamation, whereupon the Mayor declared the motion carried and the Council regularly adjourned.
