CAB OWNERS REQUEST INCREASE OF FARES. The Clerk read the following
letter:
City Council of Des Plaines
Des Plaines, Illinois
May 22, 1951
Honorable Mayor & Council:
We, the cab owners of the City of Des Plaines, would like an in-
crease in our fares. 'It has been eight years since a raise has been granted
to the Cab companies.
Prices have doubled on parts, labor, tires, ears and gas, oil, etc.
We would like the meter to read as follows:
Flag drop of 25* for the first 1/5 of a mile
10¢ for every 2/5 of a mile thereafter
10* for more than one passenger over the age
of twelve
10* for every 2 minutes of waiting time
The rates above would give us 25* a mile instead of 20¢ a mile which
we are getting now.
3d:
Sincerely yours,
De Line Cab Company Harvey Lutz
Tu Tone Cab Company Harry Picchiotti
Jack's Cab Compafly
Geisen's Cab Company Irwin L. Phar
Martin's Cab Company
