MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DES PLAINES, ILLINOIS, HELD IN THE ELEANOR ROHRBACH MEMORIAL COUNCIL CHAMBERS, DES PLAINES CIVIC CENTER, MONDAY, MAY 6, 1985 CALL TO ORDER: The regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Des Plaines was called to order by Mayor John E. Seitz at 8:06 P.M. in the Eleanor Rohrbach Memorial Council Chambers, Des Plaines Civic Center. PRAYER AND PLEDGE: SWEARING-IN CEREMONY: RECESS: ROLL CALL: The opening prayer was given by Pastor David Jones, First Presbyterian Church, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. Judge Leonard Grazian administered the Oath of Office to the following elected officials: John E. Seitz - Mayor Donna McAllister - City Clerk Kenneth Fredricks - Treasurer Robert F. BILLS PAYABLE: Moved by Ward, seconded by Muehlenbeck, to adopt the following resolution: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DES PLAINES THAT THE FOLLOWING BILLS ARE DUE AND PAYABLE AND THAT THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK BE AND ARE HEREBY AUTHORIZED TO MAKE PAYMENT FOR SAME. Total: $527,668.42. ILLINOIS ST.: ZONING CASE 85-15-R, 1632 LOCUST: ADVERTISING FOR BIDS: APPOINTMENT OF POLICE CHIEF: APPOINTMENTS: Placed on First Reading was Ordinance T-6-85, AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 10-7-3 OF THE DES PLAINES CITY CODE PERTAINING TO STOP STREETS, TO DELETE THEREFROM THE INTERSECTION OF EVERETT AVENUE AND ASH STREET AS A "2 -WAY STOP STREET" AND TO ADD THERETO SAID INTERSECTION AS A "4 -WAY STOP STREET." Inc.) was referred to the Municipal Development Committee. City Clerk's office will be advertising for bids for plugging of City Well No. 5, 250 W. Dempster/Thacker Strs. returnable, Friday, May 10, 1985 at 3 P.M. City Clerk's office will be advertising for bids for removal of Lime Sludge from Lagoon and Drying Beds, returnable Friday, May 17, 1985 at 3 P.M. Moved by Volberding, seconded by Bonk, to suspend the rules so that the matter of appointment of Police Chief could come before the Council. Motion declared carried. Moved by Wetter, seconded by Kisslinger, to concur with Mayor Seitz's appointment of Joseph R. Kozenczak as Police Chief. Motion declared carried. Alderman Sarlo voted no. Letters from Mayor Seitz re the following appointments will come before the Council at its next regular meeting on Monday, May 20, 1985. At the request of Alderman Wetter, Mayor Seitz referred the matter of designating the site of the original McDonald's Restaurant at 400 Lee Street as a historical landmark to the Historical Landmark Commission. Mayor Seitz referred the matter of the swearing-in procedure for elected officials to the License & Judicial Committee. Moved by Volberding, seconded by Bonk, that the regular meeting of the City Council adjourn. Motion declared carried. Meeting adjourned at 9:40 P.M.
