DES PLAINES, ILLINOIS, HELD IN THE
ELEANOR ROHRBACH MEMORIAL COUNCIL
CHAMBERS, DES PLAINES CIVIC CENTER,
MONDAY, APRIL 1, 1985
CALL T.0 ORDER: The regular meeting of the City Council of the City of
Des Plaines was called to order by Mayor John E. Seitz at
8:13 P.M. in the Eleanor Rohrbach Memorial Council
Chambers, Des Plaines Civic Center.
ROLL CALL:
Roll call indicated the following aldermen present:
Muehlenbeck, Kolinski, Volberding, Bonk, Martin, Wetter,
Schneck, Kisslinger, Adams, Hardiman, Dini, Chiropolos,
Addante, Ward, Zanca. Alderman Gebert was absent.
Also present were: City Treasurer Swanson, City Comptroller Blietz,
Commissioner of Public Works Matula, Fire Chief Gedroic, Police Chief
Alfano, Municipal Development Department Acting Director Trost, Human
Resources & Services Department Acting Director Schaer, City Engineer
Shrake, and Corporate Attorney Lucansky.

PLEDGE:
MINUTES:
The opening prayer was given by Pastor Robert VanderRoest,
First Christian Reformed Church, followed by the Pledge
of Allegiance to the Flag.
Moved by Bonk, seconded by Zanca, to approve Minutes of
the regular meeting of the City Council held March 18,
1985, as published. Motion declared carried.
BILLS PAYABLE: Moved by Ward, seconded by Muehlenbeck, to adopt the
following resolution: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF DES PLAINES THAT THE FOLLOWING BILLS ARE
DUE AND PAYABLE AND THAT THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK BE AND
ARE HEREBY AUTHORIZED TO MAKE PAYMENT FOR SAME. Total:
$540,905.06.
Moved by Kolinski, seconded by Bonk, to delete Warrant
#38662, DeLeuw, Cather & Co., in the amount of $1,977.93
from the Register of Bills. Upon roll call, the vote was:

McHenry, 60050, in the amount of $3,205, and usual bid
procedures be waived. Upon roll call, the vote was:

Rehab Contract, for manholes excavation repairs. Upon

& CRACK FILLER: Cold Mix Asphalt and Crack Filler with return date to be
determined. Motion declared carried.

requesting approval from IDOT for the closing of State
Routes for The Great Des Plaines Destiny Striders Annual
Foot Race to be held Sunday, August 18, 1985, from 8 A.M.
to 11 A.M. Motion declared carried.
Moved by Volberding, seconded by Hardiman, to adopt the
recommendation of the Building Code Committee to grant
request for driveway variance to 18' at 627 Jon Lane
(D. Molidor). Motion declared carried.
Moved by Volberding, seconded by Hardiman, to adopt the
recommendation of the Building Code Committee that fee
for temporary occupancy certificate be change to $100
(non-refundable) per unit for single family and duplex
and $50 (non-refundable) per unit for multi -family
buildings containing three or more units, and City Attornel
be authorized to draft necessary ordinance. Motion
declared carried.

Mayor and City Clerk be authorized to sign Parking Enforce-
ment Agreements for 901 Center Street, 905 Center Street,
and 444 S. Des Plaines -River Road. Motion declared

recommendation of the Public Safety Committee to approval
sale at auction of one 1976 Plymouth Fire Prevention
vehicle and one 1950 Ford Squad Truck. Motion declared

T-4-85, AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SCHEDULE 1 OF SECTION
10-5-17 OF THE DES PLAINES CITY CODE, ADDING THERETO "NO
PARKING AT ANY TIME" ON THE EAST SIDE OF ORCHARD COURT,
FROM GREENVIEW AVENUE TO A POINT 175' NORTH THEREOF.
