DES PLAINES, ILLINOIS, HELD IN THE
ELEANOR ROHRBACH MEMORIAL COUNCIL
CHAMBERS, DES PLAINES CIVIC CENTER,
MONDAY, OCTOBER 15, 1984
CALL TO ORDER: The regular meeting of the City Council of the City of
Des Plaines was called to order by Mayor John E. Seitz at
8:09 P.M. in the Eleanor Rohrbach Memorial Council
Chambers, Des Plaines Civic Center.
ROLL CALL:
Roll call indicated the following aldermen present:
Muehlenbeck, Volberding, Bonk, Martin, Wetter, Schneck,
Kisslinger, Adams, Hardiman, Gebert, Dini, Chiropolos,
Addante, Ward, Zanca. Alderman Kolinski was absent.
Also present were: City Treasurer Swanson, City Comptroller Blietz,
Commissioner of Public Works Matula, Fire Chief Gedroic, Police Chief
Alfano, City Engineer Shrake, Municipal Development Department Director
Richardson, Human Resources & Services Department Acting Director Schaer,
Administrative Assistant Taylor, and City Attorney Smith.
PRAYER AND
PLEDGE:
The opening prayer was given by Pastor Carl McGarvey,
The Alliance Bible Church, followed by the Pledge of
Allegiance to the Flag.
PRESENTATIONS: Martha Atherton, President of the Sister Cities Association
of Des Plaines, gave a brief update of her recent trip to
our Sister City, Cremona, Italy. She brought back greet-
ings and several gifts from the Mayor and City officials,
and explained the formation of several exchange programs.
The gifts she presented will be on display at City Hall
and at the Library.

amount of $2,000 to the Des Plaines Police Boys Club, the
proceeds of the City Officials' Golf Outing in August.
Moved by Wetter, seconded by Zanca, to approve Minutes
of the regular meeting of the City Council held October 1,
1984, as published. Motion declared carried.
Moved by Bonk, seconded by Chiropolos, to approve Minutes
of the Special meeting of the City Council held October 3,
1984, as published. Motion declared carried.
Moved by Ward, seconded by Muehlenbeck, to adopt the
following resolution: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF DES PLAINES THAT THE FOLLOWING BILLS ARE
DUE AND PAYABLE AND THAT THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK BE AND
ARE HEREBY AUTHORIZED TO MAKE PAYMENT FOR SAME. Total:
$796,071.17. Upon roll call, the vote was:

At the request of Alderman Hardiman, Chairman of the
Building Code Committee, the matter re variations requested
by Des Plaines Lumber Company, 1000 Lee Street, was
referred back to that committee for further review. This
matter had been deferred at the Special meeting of the
City Council held Wednesday, October 3, 1984.

proposal for purchase and installation of sewage lift

53223, in the amount of $10,000, and usual bid procedures

recommendation of the Municipal Development Committee that
contract with A. M. Kinney Associates, Inc., 801 Davis
Street, Evanston, IL, be increased by $6,000 and extended
by six months to perform engineering design services re
platform work at the Transit Center; and perform engineer-
ing review services of plans submitted by Chicago & North-
western re platform drainage and reconstruction and
coordinate same into Transit Center design; and City to
State for grant increase to cover this increased cost;
