MINUTES F THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DES PLAINES, ILLINOIS, HELD IN THE ELEANOR tOHRBACH MEMORIAL COUNCIL CHAMBERS, DES PLAINES CIVIC CENTER, MONDAY, JULY 16, 1984 CALL TO ORDER: The regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Des Plaines was called to order by Mayor John E. Seitz at 8:07 P.M. in the Eleanor Rohrbach Memorial Council Chambers, Des Plaines Civic Center. ROLL CALL: Roll Call indicated the following aldermen present: Muehlenbeck, Volberding, Martin, Wetter, Schneck, Kisslinger, Adams, Hardiman, DiIii, Chiropolos, Addante, Ward, Zanca. Absent were Aldermen Kolinski and Gebert. Also present were: City Treasurer Swanson, City Comptroller Blietz, Superintendent of Water & Sewer Tiernan, Police�Chief Alfano, Fire Chief Gedroic, Municipal Development Department Deput Director Trost, City Engineer Shrake, Administrative Assistant Taylor, and City'Attorney Smith. PRAYER AND PLEDGE: PRESENTATION TO DES PLAINES POLICE BOYS CLUB: MINUTES: APPOINTMENT, SECOND WARD ALDERMAN: BILLS PAYABLE: 1984 TAX LEVY: The opening prayer was given by Reverend Charles Cooper, First Baptist Church, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. Mayor Seitz presented a check to Police Chief Alfano in the amount of $6,500 for the Des Plaines Police Boys Club to help finance annual ten day camping trip. This is an annual budgeted expenditure. Moved by Volberding, seconded by Muehlenbeck, to approve Minutes of the regular meeting of the City Council held July 2, 1984. Correction: Page Two, Paragraph Three, Line 23 should read: ABSENT: 2-Gebert, Addante." After correction, motion to approve declared carried. Moved by Volberding, seconded by Zanca, to suspend the rules so that matter of appointment of Second Ward Alderman could come before the Council. Motion carried.. Moved by Volberding, seconded by Martin, to concur with Mayor Seitz's appointment of Mr. Joseph P. Bonk to fill vacancy as Alderman of Second Ward. Motion declared carried. Moved by Ward, seconded by Muehlenbeck, to adopt the following resolution: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DES PLAINES THAT THE FOLLOWING BILLS ARE DUE AND PAYABLE AND THAT THE MAYiOR AND CITY CLERK BE AND ARE HEREBY AUTHORIZED TO MAKE PAYMENT FOR SAME. Total: $393,209.89. Variation to be effective for' a 12 -month period, and City Attorney be authorized to draft necessary ordinance. Motion declared carried. Moved by Dini, seconded by Zanca, to adopt the recommenda- tion of the Public Safety Committee that City Clerk be authorized to advertise for bids re sale of one Boss Foam unit, returnable by 3 P.M. on Friday, September 28, 1984.
