The Mayor informed th citizens that the Chairman of the Committee on Sewers
had a report which helwould make later and also was going to call a meeting for
next Monday night of he entire Council to study this problem of overloaded sewers.
STREETS AND SANITATION COMMITTEE REPORT: Alderman Vavrinek requested
that the City Clerk be instructed to communicate with the Minneapolis, St. .
Paul and Sault Ste. MarieRailroad about repairing their crossings at Lee Street,
Prairie Avenue and Golf Road.
WATER. SEWERS AND PUBLIC.BUILDINGS COMMITTEE: Alderman Halverson
reported that he had 'requested the City Engineer to make a survey of the flood
levels on the south side and asked the entire Council to meet with his com-
mittee Monday night, April 28th, at which time he would have the report so
they could discuss iafinediate alleviation to some of the flooded conditions.
He requested the City Attorney to get information for him gegarding.the fi-
- nancing of storm sewers because he said the storm sewers would be the final
solution. Mayor Pfl9ghaupt instructed the City Clerk to inform the two
newly-eledted aldermen to be at the committee meeting.
MUNICIPAII DEVELOPMENT: Alderman idapieralski reported that the
County Zoning Hearing held at Park Ridge regarding Dee Road property was
a Park Ridge matter and recommended that Des Plaines take no action as a
friendly gesture to Park Ridge to determine its own problem.

Council appeal to the State Highway Department requesting that they
place four way stop signs at Des P;aines Avenue and Algonquin R oad
intersection to be preceded by suitable approach or warning signs.
We further recommend that the one-hour parking ordinance
be extended on the notth side of Prairie Avenue from the alley line between
Lee Street and Ceaceland Avenue west to Graceland Avenue and that all parking
be eliminated on the south side of this same location. •-
We wish to ask further that the C ouhcil consider in the very near
future was and means of improving traffic donditions by the widening of

Referring to your letter of October 22, 1946, wherein Ald®man
Halverson has requested a stop sign to be placed at.Everett on White Street,
we recommend that White Street be removed from the City Ordinance as a
through street.
Both Alderman Halverson and Alderman Johnson, as well as the Engi-
neer and others, were present at our meeting and we were unanimous in the opinion
that the abovd should be done.
We further suggest that the Superintendent of Public Works install
slow signs on the four corners of Everett andW hite Street.
