06/28/1965 Adjourned Meeting6/28/65 MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DES PLAINES, ILLINOIS, HEIR IN THE COUNCIL ROOM, CITY HALL, MONDAY, JUNE•28, 1965 CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order by Mayor Behrel with Alderman Szabo, Bolek, Shillington, Figard, Czubakowski; Swanson, Martin, and Bonaguidi responding to roll call. The meeting opened with a prayer and the pledge of allegiance to the flag. AWARD BID FOR CONSTRUCTION OF PUMPING HOUSE AND RESERVOIRS .. UNIT #1 Al, motion was made by Alderman Figard and seconded by Shillington to award the bid for construction of the pumping house and reservoirs, Unit #1, to John C. Long, Inc., 6128 W. Belmont, Chicago, Illinois, the low bidder of $780,990.00 and the checks and/or bonds of the unsuccessful bidders be returned. The Mayor put the question and the Clerk called the roll with the following results: Ayes: Szabo, Bolek, Shillington, Figard, Czubakowski, Swanson, Martin, and Bonaguidi. Nayes: None, The Mayor declared the motion carried. AWARD BID FOR PIPING AND EQUIPMENT - UNIT #2: A motion was made by Alderman Figard and seconded by Czubakowski to award the bid for piping and equipment •• Unit #2 .. to W. Wanzenberg & Co., 2128 Ashland Avenue, Evanston, Illinois, low bidder at $168,000.00 and the checks and/or bonds of the unsuccessful bidders be returned. The Mayor put the question and the Clerk called the roll with the following results: Ayes: Szabo, Bolek, Shillington, Figard, Cgubakowski, Swanson, Martin, and Bonaguidi. Nayes: None. TheMayordeclared the motion carried. Alderman Rateike arrived at this time. AWARD BID FOR ELECTRICAL UNIT #3 .•PUMPING STATION AND RESERVOIRS:, A. motion.was made by.Alderman.Figard and .seconded by Shillington to award the bid for electrical work - Unit #3, on the pumping station and reservoirs to Divane Brothers Electrical Company, 5010 W. Chicago Avenue, Chicago, Illinois, the low bidder of $48,448.00 (Unit 3.1) and $23,900.00 (Unit #3-2), and the checks and/or bonds of the unsuccessful bidders be returned. The Mayor put the question and the Clerk called the roll with the following results: Ayes: Rateike, Szabo, Bolek, Shillington, Figard, Czubakowski, Swanson, Martin, and Bonaguidi. Nayes: None. The Mayor declared the motion carried. The Mayor declared the motion carried. ADOPT ORDINANCE T..19...65: NO PARKING ALONG BOTH SIDES OF TOUHY AVENUE BETWEEN MANNHEIM ROAD AND MOUNT .PROSPECT, ROAD: The Clerk read the above ordinance for First -Reading. A motion was made by Alderman Czubakowski and seconded by Martin to place the ordinance on passage. A motion was made by Alderman Figard and seconded by Martin to adopt above ordinance. The -Mayor put the question and the Clerk called the roll with the following results: Ayes: Rateike, Szabo, Bolek, Shillington, Figard, Czubakowski, Swanson, Martin, and Bonaguidi. Nayes: None, The Mayor declared the motion carried. 6/28/65 Page two ADOPT ORDINANCE M-17-65: The Clerk read for the First Reading the above ordinance amending Title 9 of the City Code adding Section 9-4-13. A motion was made by Alderman Figard and seconded by Czubakowski to place the above ordinance on passage. The motion to adopt above ordinance was made by Alderman Shillington and seconded by Czubakowski. The Mayor put the question and the Clerk called the roll With the following results: Ayes: Rateike, Szabo; Bolek, Shillington, Figard, Czubakowski; Swanson, Martin, aind Bonaguidi. Nayes: None. The Mayor declared the motion carried. ADJOURNMENT: The motion was made by Alderman Shillington and seconded by Rateike to adjourn. The Council q)proved by acclamation vote. The meeting opened with a prayer read by -Mayor Behrel, and the pledge of allegiance to the flag. MINUTES: On motion by Alderman Prickett and seconded by Wright, the Council approved the minutes.of the regular meeting held June 21, 1965. On motion by Alderman Figard and seconded by Shillington, the ,Council approved the minutes of the adjourned meeting held June 28, 1965. OPEN BIDS - AUTOMATIC SIRE ALARM SYSTEM: On motion by Alderman Figard and seconded by Shillington, the Council instructed the Clerk to open the above bids. Agency, Inc. $4,496.00 4,625.00 3,150.00 On motion by Alderman Figard and seconded by Swanson, ,the Council referred the bids to the Fire, Finance, and Building & Grounds Committees - also the Fire Chief. OPEN BIDS - SECTION 65-C.S., IMPROVING PORTIONS OF VARIOUS STREETS On motion by Alderman Bonaguidi and seconded by French, the Council instructed the Clerk to open the above bids.
