05/05/1980CALL TO ORDER: II ROLL CALL: 111 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DES PLAINES, ILLINOIS, HELD IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS, CIVIC CENTER MONDAY, May 5, 1980 The regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Des Plaines was called to order by Mayor Herbert H. Volberding at 8:10 P.M. in the Council Chambers, Des Plaines Civic Center on Monday, May 5, 1980. Roll Call indicated the following aldermen present: Koplos, Kolinski, Dwiel, Kehe, Ensign, Prellberg, Kisslinger, Birchfield, Erbach, Tomaszewski, Sarlo, Meyer, Seitz, Egan. Absent was Alderman Ward Also present were: City Treasurer Swanson, City Comptroller Blietz, Acting Commissioner of Public Works Matula, Health Director Branding, Police Chief Alfano, Fire Chief Gedroic, Building Commissioner Trost, Director of Planning and Zoning Richardson, Traffic Engineer Crowley, Police Lt. Scheskie, Environmental Officer Lindahl, License Officer Hinde, and Attorney Lucansky. PRAYER AND The meeting opened with prayer by the Mayor followed by PLEDGE the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. MINUTES: WATERMAIN IMPROVEMENTS CONTRACT #1 1980 ICENTRAL RD. PUMPING STATION EMERGENCY REPAIRS 1 Moved by Kehe, seconded by Sarlo, to approve the Minutes of the regular meeting as published. Correction, Paragraph three, last line, change "City Attorney Hug" to "City Attorney Smith'. Motion to approve as corrected declared carried. Moved by Koplos, seconded by Sarlo, to adopt the recommenda- tion of Water and Sewer Committee that the City Clerk be authorized to advertise for bids for the Proposed Watermain Improvements Contract No. 1, 1980, returnable May 28, 1980. Motion declared carried. Moved by Koplos, seconded by Sarlo, to adopt the recommenda- tion of Water and Sewer Committee that City Council ratify previous emergency action authorized by the Mayor on March 27, 1980, to make all the necessary emergency repairs to the Central Road Pumping Station, and further to authorize payment for same in the amount of $3,857.00 to Adlite Electric Co., waiving the usual bid procedure. Moved by Seitz, seconded by Koplos, to adopt the recommenda- tion of City Code and Judiciary Committee that the City require the owner to provide acceptable driveway and parking plan within fifteen days and removal of the front building within 30 days, City of Des Plaines VS owners of the Rio Rand motel, and if said building is not removed, the building be removed by the City and lien placed against the property for all costs involved.
