CALL TO ORDER: The regular meeting of the City Council of the City of
Des Plaines was called to order by Mayor John E. Seitz
at 8:13 P.M., in the Eleanor Rohrbach Memorial Council
Chambers, Des Plaines Civic Center.
ROLL CALL:
Roll Call indicated the following aldermen present:
Muehlenbeck, Kolinski, Dwiel, Kehe, Martin, Wetter,
Prellberg, Kisslinger, Adams, Erbach, Tomaszewski,
Dini, Chiropolos, Ward. Alderman Egan was absent.
Also present were: City Comptroller Blietz, Commissioner of Public
Works Matula, Fire Chief Gedroic, Police Chief Alfano, Acting City
Engineer Crowley, Acting Health Director McIntosh, Municipal Development
Department Director Richardson, Administrative Assistant Taylor and
City Attorney Smith.

The opening prayer was given by Pastor Robert Setmeyer,
St. Martin's Episcopal Church, followed by Pledge of
Allegiance to the Flag.
CLEAN Clean Community System Coordinator Robert Fabian
COMMUNITY presented awards to the winners of the "Keep Des Plaines
SYSTEM Clean" poster contest conducted throughout the school

60131, for the total amount of $32,292.00 delivered.

by Public Works employee upon inspection. City Attorney

SCHOLARSHIP recommendation of the Environmental Controls Committee
AWARD: to concur with the Environmental Commission that a
$500 scholarship be given a Des Plaines high school
science teacher to attend an Environmental Workshop at
the Audubon Ecology Camp, Hunt Hill Sanctuary near
Spooner Lake, Wisconsin, during the summer session. The
award was given to Brian Oliver, science teacher at
Maine West High School. Upon roll call, the vote was:

STORM WATER Moved by Martin, seconded by Tomaszewski, to adopt the
DETENTION recommendation of the Building Control & Inspection
VARIATION, Committee to grant variation from Building Code, Section
2300 S. 36.18-19, that would allow less than the required
MT.PROSPECT: detention of storm water at property located at
2300 S. Mt.Prospect Road, Consolidated Freightways
Truck Terminal. This would allow sheet drainage of their
parking lot and permit paving of City drainage ditch.
City Attorney to draft necessary ordinance. Motion
declared carried.
LIQUOR Moved by Kisslinger, seconded by Kehe, to adopt the
LICENSE, recommendation of the License & Inspection Committee to
783 LEE ST.: grant Class G (Banquet -Hall) Liquor License to new
owners of Casa Royale, 783 Lee Street, Margaret K. and
Adolph J. Moehling. Motion declared carried.
LIQUOR Moved by Kisslinger, seconded by Kehe, to adopt the
LICENSE, recommendation of the License & Inspection Committee to
875 OAKTON ST.: grant Class G (Banquet Hall) Liquor License to Stafford
Banquet Room (The 875 Corporation), 875 Oakton Street,
and City Attorney be authorized to draft necessary
ordinance to increase Class G Liquor Licenses by one.

SWEEPER TO Attorney to prepare contract to be made between Clean
CLEAN Community System and City whereby Tennant Power Sweeper
COMMUNITY Model #240, becomes the property of the Clean Community
SYSTEM: System for the purchase price of $1.00 with no obligation
or liability to the City and a reversion clause should
the Clean Community Commission dissolve or have no
further use for this equipment,with no cost to the City.
Motion declared carried.
DUAL -CHECK Letter from Des Plaines Chamber of Commerce and Industry
BACKFLOW re use of dual -check backflow preventers was referred to
PREVENTERS: Building Code Committee.
