MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DES PLAINES, ILLINOIS, HELD IN THE ELEANOR ROHRBACH MEMORIAL COUNCIL CHAMBERS, DES PLAINES CIVIC CENTER, MONDAY, MAY 2, 1983 CALL TO ORDER: The regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Des Plaines was called to order by Mayor John E. Seitz at 8:13 P.M., in the Eleanor Rohrbach Memorial Council Chambers, Des Plaines Civic Center. ROLL CALL: Roll Call indicated the following aldermen present: Muehlenbeck, Kolinski, Dwiel, Kehe, Martin, Wetter, Prellberg, Kisslinger, Adams, Erbach, Tomaszewski, Dini, Chiropolos, Ward. Alderman Egan was absent. Also present were: City Comptroller Blietz, Commissioner of Public Works Matula, Fire Chief Gedroic, Police Chief Alfano, Acting City Engineer Crowley, Acting Health Director McIntosh, Municipal Development Department Director Richardson, Administrative Assistant Taylor and City Attorney Smith. PRAYER AND PLEDGE: The opening prayer was given by Pastor Robert Setmeyer, St. Martin's Episcopal Church, followed by Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. CLEAN Clean Community System Coordinator Robert Fabian COMMUNITY presented awards to the winners of the "Keep Des Plaines SYSTEM Clean" poster contest conducted throughout the school POSTER system. ENVIRONMENTAL Moved by Dini, seconded by Chiropolos, to adopt the SCHOLARSHIP recommendation of the Environmental Controls Committee AWARD: to concur with the Environmental Commission that a $500 scholarship be given a Des Plaines high school science teacher to attend an Environmental Workshop at the Audubon Ecology Camp, Hunt Hill Sanctuary near Spooner Lake, Wisconsin, during the summer session. The award was given to Brian Oliver, science teacher at Maine West High School. STORM WATER Moved by Martin, seconded by Tomaszewski, to adopt the DETENTION recommendation of the Building Control & Inspection VARIATION, Committee to grant variation from Building Code, Section 2300 S. 36.18-19, that would allow less than the required MT.PROSPECT: detention of storm water at property located at 2300 S. Mt.Prospect Road, Consolidated Freightways Truck Terminal. This would allow sheet drainage of their parking lot and permit paving of City drainage ditch. City Attorney to draft necessary ordinance.
