08/02/1982 Public Hearing1 279A MINUTES OF THE PUBLIC HEARING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DES PLAINES, ILLINOIS, HELD IN THE ELEANOR ROHRBACH MEMORIAL COUNCIL CHAMBERS, DES PLAINES CIVIC CENTER, MONDAY, AUGUST 2, 1982. CALL TO ORDER: The Public Hearing of the City Council of the City of Des Plaines was called to order by Alderman Richard Ward, Chairman of the Finance & Insurance Committee, at 7:02 P.M. The purpose of this hearing was to discuss and answer public inquiries as to the proposed 1982 Tax Levy for the City of Des Plaines in com- pliance with the Truth In Taxation Act law. Alderman Ward announced that the required Legal Notice of Public Hearing was published in the Des Plaines Suburban Times on July 22, 1982, which was stated by Alderman Ward as follows: "NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Mayor and City Council of the City of Des Plaines, Cook County, Illinois, will hold a public hearing on August 2, 1982, at the hour of 7:00 P.M., at the City Hall, 1420 Miner Street, Des Plaines, Illinois, concerning the 1982 tax levy for said City. It is estimated that the amount of property taxes, exclusive of election costs and bond principal and interest levies, to be extended on behalf of the City for the year 1981 is $4,431,685, and that the amount of the proposed levy for 1982, exclusive of election costs and bond principal and interest levies, is $4,865,763, and therefore that the tax levy for the 1982 year has been increased 9.8% over the amount extended for the year 1981. At such public hearing the Mayor and City Council shall explain the reasons for the proposed increase in the tax levy and all persons desiring to be heard shall be given an opportunity to present testimony during such public hearing. The above indicated hearing may be continued from time to time as may appear necessary or desirable and without further notice. BY ORDER OF THE CORPORATE AUTHORITIES OF THE CITY OF DES PLAINES."
