01/27/1958 Adjourned Meeting1 1/20/58 589 put the question and the Clerk called the roll with the following results: Ayes: Alderman Figard, Tistle, Bell, McKay, Callaghan, Rateike, Dunlap, Wright, Tures and Wexler. Nays: Neff. The Mayordeclared the motion carried. The motion was made by Alderman Bell and seconded by Dunlap to adopt the ordinance. After considerable discussion the Council decided to adjourn the meeting'to next Monday to give the Aldermen an opportunity to investigate where the streets are located, at which,time they will vote on the motion. ORDINANCE TO ENTER INTO A SEWER CONTRACT AGREEMENT. The Clerk read for first reading the above ordinance. The Ordinance is to change the time limit to February 28, 1958 from January 15, 1958. The motion was made by Alderman Neff and seconded by Tistle to suspend the rules and adopt the ordinance. The Mayor put the question and the Clerk called the roll with the following results: Ayes: Alderman Figard, Tistle, McKay, Callaghan, Rateike, Wright and Tures. Nays: Alderman Dunlap, Neff, Wexler and Bell. The Mayor declared the motion lost. CHICAGO AND NORTHWESTERN RAILWAY PROPERTY SOUTH OF CUMBERLAND STATION. On a motion by Alderman McKay and second by Callaghan the Council referred to the L{) Zoning Board of Appeals sitting as a Commission to call a hearing to rezone the Chicago and Northwestern Railway property south of Cumberland Station to Commercial. Q MCKAY AND NEALIS PLAT. The Mayor referred the McKay and Nealis Plat to the Plan Commission. 1 NORTHWEST HIGHWAY PLAT PLAN. The Mayor referred the above plat to Plan Commission}. ADJOURNMENT. Henrich City Clerk THE ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL DES PLAINES, ILLINOIS HELD JANUARY 27,1958 AT_8:30 P.M. CALL TO ORDER. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Herbert Behrel who presided with Alderman Martin, Prickett, Tistle, Bell, McKay, Callaghan, Dunlap, Wright, Neff and Wexler. The Mayor informed the Council that the meeting was regarding the vacation of streets and alleys at the Northwest corner of Rand and River Roads, and the contract ordinance on Howard :Avenue .sewer. After discussion about vacating the streets and alleys for which there were two propertyowners objecting, the Council agreed to a committee meeting, including the objectors, on Tuesday, January 28. . Alderman Rateike and Tures arrived during the discussion. Alderman McKay read a report on Broadway,Avenue blacktoping and regarding parking which had been referred to the Street Committee from Parking Meter Committee. On motion by Alderman McKay and second by Callaghan the report was concurred in and referred back to the Parking Meter Committee. On motion by Alderman McKay and second by Callaghan the attorney received the information to draft an ordinance on parking hours on streets in the Northwest Highway and Broadway area. The Mayor had received a plat regarding the change of traffic at Rand Road, Lee Street and River Road and he referred the plat to the Streets Committee and Engineer. Attorney Dowd presented a Court summons regarding the Chicago and Northwestern Railway property south of Cumberland station. The Mayor referred the summons to the Judiciary Committee. 5901/27/58 SOCIAL"SECURITY. Attorney Dowd read his opinion on the City employees Social Security. HOWARD STREET SEWER CONTRACT ORDINANCE. The Council had discussed the contract with Mr. Wagner and had delayed further discussion until Mr.!Brandel would arrive. After considerable discussion with the two gentlemen the motion was made by Alderman Dunlap and seconded by Tistle to adopt the ordinance and authorize the Mayor and Clerk to sign the renewed contract. The Mayor put the question and the Clerk called the roll with the following results: Ayes: Alderman Martin,'Prickett, Tistle, Bell, McKay, Callaghan, Rateike, Dunlap, Wright, Tures, Neff, Wexler, Nay8 LNone. City Clerk MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL,•DES PLAINES,,ILLINOIS, HELD IN COUNCIL ROOM, CITYHALL, FEBRUARY 3. 1955 AT 5:00 P.M. CALL TO ORDER. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Herbert H, Behrel who presided with Alderman Prickett, Tistle, McKay, Callaghan, Rateike, Dunlap, Tures, Wright, Neff, Wexler, Martin and Figard responding to roll call. The Mayor informed the Council that Alderman Bell would not be at the meeting so the Rand and River Roads, street and alley vacationtwould not) be discussed until the February 17th meeting. APPROVAL OF MINUTES. The motion was made by Alderman Prickett and'seconded by Dunlap to adopt the minutes of January 20th and adjourned meeting of January 27, 1958. Alderman McKay requested a correction that he made the motion instead of Alderman Neff to suspend the rules and place the ordinance on passage for Sewer Contract Agreement. The motion was then voted upon by acclamation with correction made. OFFICIAL REPORTS. The Clerk submitted the reports of Building Commissioner and City Clerk for January, also, the Clerk's annual report of receipts and disbursements and the annual report of Librarian Mrs. Smith. TO ADVERTISE BIDS FOR POLICE RADIO EQUIPMENT. On motion by Alderman Tures and second by Tistle the Council approved to advertise bids for police radio equipment which will be partly paidby the Government for Civilian Defense. I � TO APPOINT CROSSING PATROLMAN. On recommendation by the Police Commission and motion by Alderman Tures which was seconded by Martin the Council 'instructed the Police Chief to employ a crossing patrolman for Second and Thacker Streets. TO ADVERTISE BIDS FOR POLICE CAR RENTAL. On motion by Alderman Tures and second by Callaghan the Police Commission are to prepare specifications and advertise bids for police car rental to be received for the March 3, 1958 meeting. TO ADVVERTISE BIDS - STATION WAGON FOR FIRE DEPARTMENT. On recommendation of Fire Committee and motion by Alderman Tistle and seconded by Rateike the Fire Committee is to advertise for bids for station wagon which are to be received at the Maarch 3, 1958, meeting. Alderman Callaghan made a progress report regarding the survey to have cities sell State license plates that the Clerk,has written regarding compensation for clerks,
