ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
DES PLAINES, ILLINOIS, HELD IN THE
COUNCIL ROOM, CITY HALL, JANUARY 13, 1958
AT 8:00 P.M.
CALL TO ORDER. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Herbert H. Behrel with
Alderman Prickett, Tistle, Bell, McKay, Callaghan, Rateike, Dunlap, Wright,
Neff and Wexler responding to roll call.
The Mayor said the meeting had been adjourned to adopt the appropriation and
payroll ordinances for 1958.
ADOPT THE 1958 APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE. The Clerk read for second reading the
1958 Appropriation Ordinance. The motion vas made by Alderman Prickett and
seconded by Bell to adopt the ordinance. After the Council had rechecked the
ordinance the Mayor put the question and the Clerk called the roll with the
following results: Ayes: Alderman Prickett, Tistle, Bell, McKay, Callaghan,
Rateike, Dunlap, Wright, Neff and Wexler. Nays: None. The Mayor declared
the motion carried.
ADOPT PAYROLL ORDINANCE FOR 1958. The Clerk read for first reading the 1958
Payroll Ordinance. The motion was made by Alderman Prickett and seconded by
Tistle to suspend the rules and adopt the ordinance. The Mayor put the question
and the Clerk called the roll with the following results: Ayes: ;Alderman
Prickett, Tistle, Bell, McKay, Callaghan, Rateike, Dunlap, Wright, Neff and Wexle.
Nays: None. The Mayor declared the motion carried. The motion was made by
Alderman Bell and seconded by Prickett to adopt the ordinance. The Mayor put
the question and the Clerk called the roll with the following results: Ayes:
Alderman Prickett, Tistle, Bell,McKay,•Callaghan, Rateike, Dunlap; Wright,
Neff and Wexler. Nays: 'None. The mayor declared the motion carried.
ELECTRICAL COMMISSION REO•PPPPOINTED. On a motion.by Alderman Prickett and second
by Rateike the Council approved the Mayor's reqppointment of the following
members of the Electrical Commission. ARthur Rieck, Raymond Kolze, Henry
Kaufman, V. Jaacks and C. A. Payne.
At the request of Alderman Dunlap•the Mayor referred to the City Attorney Dowd
the item regarding garbage disposal to contact the Park Ridge attorney to
check on the two cities combining this service.
At the request of Superintendent Warnicke the Clerk is to write to the Soo Line
Railroad regarding the new flume for Weller Creek. The City to pay $1,000.00.
The motion was made by Alderman Prickett and seconded by Callaghan to grant the
request. The Mayor put the question and the Clerk called the roll with the
following results: Ayes: Alderman Prickett, Tistle, Bell., McKay, Callaghan,
Rateike, Dunlap, Wright, Neff and Wexler. Nays: Nb a :The Mayor, declared the
motion carried.
Engineer Fletcher reported on the meeting he and several City Officials attended
with State Engineer Tuthill regarding the Rand and River Road traffic.
Alderman Bell reported that the Committee met with the Park Ridge' Officials
regarding boundary line between the two cities but will have another meeting.
Alderman Tures appeared at this time.
The Mayor referred to the Public Building and Grounds and Water Committees
regarding the purchase of land at Water Plant.
Alderman Tures reported about a 40 hour weak for the Police Department. The
motion was made by Alderman Wright and seconded by Callaghan to approve the
report. After a short discussion the Mayor referred the report bck to the
Police Committee to have the Chief make copies for each Alderman regarding
how the department will function and to report back next Monday. !
At the request of Alderman Wright regarding billboards near Toll Roads in
Des Plaines the Mayor referred to City Attorney and License Committee.
ADJOURNMENT. The motion was made by Alderman Wexler and seconded by Wright to
adjourn. The motion was voted upon by acclamation.
