MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE
CITY COUNCIL, DES PLAINES,;ILLINOIS
HELD IN THE COUNCIL ROOM, CITY HALL,
OCTOBER 14, 1957 AT 8:0Q P.M.
CALL TO ORDER. The meeting was called to order by City Clerk
Henrich due to the absence of the Mayor with Alderman Neff, Wexler
Martin, Figard, Tistle, Nelsen, Callaghan, Dunlap, Tures aid
Wright responding to roll call.
On a motion by Alderman Martin and second by Dunlap the Council
appointed Alderman Tures Mayor pro tem.
BALLARD GARDENS PLAT. The City Clerk presented two plats: First
Addition to Ballard Gardens and McGraw and Miller's Subdivision.
The C6uncil on a motion by Dunlap and second by Tistle referred
the plats to the Plan Commission.
Alderman McKay appeared at this time.
$200,000.00" -PARKING REVENUE BONDS. The motion was made by Alderman
Nelsen to issue $200,000.00 Parking Revenue Bonds at 5 per cent
to local people. •The Mayor pro •tem put the question and the Clerk
called the roll with the following results: Ayes: Alderman Wexler,
Martin, Figard, Tistle, Nelsen, McKay, Callaghan, Dunlap, Tures,
and Wright. Nays: Alderman Neff. The Mayor pro tem declared
the motion carried.
MEYER COAL COMPANY AGREEMENT. There was a discussion on the
above agreement and there is to be a poll of citizens involved
if they are satisfied with the agreement.
W. J. BERTRAM, 275 THACKER STREET APPLICATION FOR FOOD STORE LICENSE.
The Clerk reported on the request for a food store license at above
address which lot was made Commercial when subdivision was approved.
But the Clerk being uncertain about_ the zoning wanted'an opinion of
the Council. On a.motion by Alderman Neff and second by Dunlap
was referred to the Zoning Board.
Mr. Bush of the Chicago and Northwestern Railway explained the
proposed new signal system without the man in the tower at station.
The system is to be installed in,about six months.
Mr. Kenneth Meyer informed the Council of what the Ramshead
Company and Contour Saws intend to do if they purchase the northeast
corner of Graceland and Oakwood : venues which property; is involved
in a zoning case. The rezoning of part of their land ,is with the
Zoning Board and they desired an opinion of the Council on this
zoning. The motion was made by Alddrman Rateike to,poll the Council
but was lost for a second. The motion was made by Alderman Neff
and seconded by Dunlap that the Municipal Develoomelt,Committee
be authorized to employ a broker, not to exceed 100.00 to appraise
the alley which that company desires to have vacated., The Mayor
pro tem put the question and the Clerk called the roll with the
following results: Ayes: Alderman Neff., Wexler, Martin, Figard,
Tistle, Callaghan, Dunlap and Wright. Nays: Aldierman Nelsen
McKay, Rateike and Tures. The Mayor pro'tem declared the motion
carried.

ADJOURNMENT. The motion was made by Alderman Nel;sen•and seconded
by Tistle to adjourn. The motion was voted upon by acclamation.
